He married Augusta Lourinda Ballew.⁽¹³⁶⁾ Augusta was born in Burke County, North Carolina 1845.⁽¹³⁷⁾ Augusta⁽¹³⁸⁾ was the daughter of John Ballew and Elizabeth McTaggart. Augusta traveled near Bentonville, Arkansas.⁽¹³⁹⁾

Robert was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Cherokee County, North Carolina.⁽¹⁴⁰⁾

Robert Hyatt and Augusta Lourinda Ballew had the following children:

2 i. Molten² Hyatt⁽¹⁴¹⁾ was born in North Carolina 1865.⁽¹⁴²⁾

3 ii. Ethel Hyatt⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born in North Carolina 1867.⁽¹⁴⁴⁾
