2. Thomas McTaggart² Ballew (John¹) was born in North Carolina 1824.⁽³⁷⁾ Thomas died 17 MAY 1899 in Fannin County, Georgia, at 74 years of age. His body was interred in Fannin County, Georgia, Old Ballew Cemetery.

He married Hazy S. McTaggart in McDowell County, North Carolina, 25 NOV 1850. Hazy was born in North Carolina FEB 1830. Hazy was the daughter of James McTaggart and Olive Ballew. Her body was interred in Fannin County, Georgia, Old Ballew Cemetery.

Thomas McTaggart Ballew and Hazy S. McTaggart had the following children:

13 i. Olive Louisa³ Ballew was born in North Carolina 31 OCT 1851. Olive died 12 DEC 1946 at 95 years of age. Her body was interred abt. 15 DEC 1946 in Fannin County, Georgia, Hothouse Community Cemetery. She married William Young Gilliam in Blue Ridge, Fannin County, Georgia, 13 JAN 1871. William was born 21 JUL 1850. William died 30 OCT 1876 at 26 years of age. His body was interred abt. 02 SEP 1876 in Fannin County, Georgia, Hothouse Community Cemetery. + 14 ii. Thomas Washington Ballew was born 16 OCT 1854.

15 iii. Sarah E. Ballew was born in Georgia 14 OCT 1856. Her body was interred in Fannin County, Georgia, Old Ballew Cemetery. She married William J. Witt in Blue Ridge, Fannin County, Georgia, 03 SEP 1899. (See William J. Witt for the continuation of this line.)

16 iv. James Ballew was born in North Carolina 1858.

17 v. Mary Ballew was born in Fannin County, Georgia 1859. Mary died 1873 in Georgia, at 14 years of age. Her body was interred 1873 in Fannin County, Georgia, Old Ballew Cemetery.

18 vi. John Robert Ballew was born in Georgia NOV 1862. His body was interred in Fannin County, Georgia, Old Ballew Cemetery.

19 vii. Julia Ballew was born in Georgia 1865.

20 viii. William Emanuel Ballew was born in Georgia 1868. William died 1870 in Georgia, at 2 years of age. His body was interred in Fannin County, Georgia, Old Ballew Cemetery.
