Letter to S.W. Vickrey from J. S. Ragsdale - 4 Apr 1876

Jamestown NC
April 4th 1876

S. W. V Esq

Dear Sir -

Yours of the 3rd to hand and contents noted - We have had much call for the neverfail and although we have as much stock of that as common we would not be able to fill all orders on it if there was a continuous run on it – Our big stock is on the Wine Sap and Shockly – many thousands of these – and they were not out enough to be killed – if it be possible turn your gun on these – As to advertising I leave that to you. If you think it of advantage you can advertise.
I feel confident that you will be able to hold your hand with _______ __________
who come in on you – Do you think Wakefield was feeling much – My man Thom sold $86 – 1 cash express $1.75 – last week – My other men have just to Ga.
Ga. Is full of Mr. Wilborn’s & John V. Lindley’s & J. L.’s men now.
W. H. Idol’s men sold – last week –
G. W. Williams $136 cash express $2.75
Steph. Idol            75      “     “      1.75
I write to show you how sales are running – I will write you each week and tell you how the matter is. We have no special news. Has been raining pretty badly but is clear again.
                            Very Truly Yours
                            J. S. Ragsdale
                            For J. M. Ward & Co.
