Dear Brother,
I will endeavor to write you a few lines to night to let you know that
we are all well as common. Hope when these few lines reach you they may find you
well and having a good time in general. I have nothing new to write but will fill up with
some thing Mother & Pa have been over to Alsons to day. They are all about like
common for them. They got the little Negro Alson had she is black as coal it bothers
_______. He dont like to hear of his bed fellow
I stayed down ____ _______ [looks like at Specs] a weak and a little better he
has got so he can get about some with a stick and crutch though I dont think he will
be well for some time yet. I think the _____ [leader?] was about half cut off Wife A. E.
V. [may be W] was staying with Tulley Fraziers when I was at Specs
I went to see her nearly every day while I was down there or went to see Tulley he was
tolerable bad off. They had to set up with him all the time. There is one more break
of school after this and then Mary Potter will quit. Old _______ [looks like jack] for
this winter she has got one of D~dest rules now you ever heard of they all have to tell
how many words they speak during the day Ill bet a Sheep she dont get it out
of me how many words I speak will se going through the briat patch first We have been
working at the old place some lately fencing and cleaning up the meadows. Fletch Wade came
last Monday morning to work out his debt but worked only two days had to go home promised
to come back to day but did not come.
Uncle Allen Scott Aunt Betsy ___ [ Levi?] & Willy came up last Saturday got up here
about dinner time stayed until nearly night then went to _____ Wileys They were all well
& believe Rush Preaches at black jack next Sunday g_______ . he will preach there in
the weak and all the fifth Sundays like he did last year. Spindley Walton and Adelia are
going to move to Rube Frogdons shortly so we have heard guess it is true. Parties
are in vogue about here since christmas. I was at one at Gladesboro [ Goldsboro?] since
you left at Carridays They had one at John Gray's last saturday night had a special
invitation but did not go it was two rainy They had 21 3/4 lbs candy only 8 girls
and about 12 boys so they say Some of the boys about here talk like thy want to have
one at the old place They seem to think it would be the most suitable place they
know of don't know how it would set with Pa and Mother don't think they would like
it very well. I haven't got any subscribers to our paper yet think I can get
some yet haven't tryed it yet

27th I have come to the depo this morning found our med_______ on hand got it but
have not payed the express on it yet express charges 25 cents I will close for this time
hoping to hear from you soon
