NOTES ON ANDREW RUDDOCK BORN 1819
These were notes taken from Judy Ruddock Veenstras emails in 1999
I spent the day at the state library and was very successful. I went into the newspaper room (there is
copies of just about every paper in MI there)and looked up a lot of obits in our family. I felt lucky
when I found Andrew Ruddocks. He was one of the 4 brothers who came from Ireland. The copy says (as we knew) he was born in 1819 in Down, Ireland. He migrated to America arriving in New York in 1837. He then went to MI in 1838 (a year before statehood) walking from Ypsilanti to Ceresco. He returned to NY and in 1847 he married Mary Burk in Rochester. They had 1 son and 3 daughters. Only one lived at his death, Mary Fox in Minneapolis Minn whose home he was visiting when he became sicker. He was sick when he went there. He was buried in Oakridge Cem in Marshall in the family plot. It did not list his parents but at least we know that he came before the others. He died Sept 23 1885.
