I have also met relatives of yours living in Hobbs, NM, and Yazoo City, Miss. I have copies of pictures of some of the Poseys and I also have a copy of Samuel Newton Berryhill. Dr. Snow was the one who got me started looking for my family tree. This is what I have found. Alexander (1661) had a son named John (married to Martha Bigness). They lived first in Ireland, then Penn, then into the Carolinas. At that time the Carolinas were not divided into North & South. They had several children, two of the boys were named Joseph & Samuel. Joseph & Samuel married into the Creek nation, both girls were named Hannah. Joseph & Hannah had lived & died in NC. Their children were: Andrew, Samuel, John (yours), Alexander (mine), Joseph, & Robert. This was based on a letter that Samuel Newton Berryhill wrote in his book of poems stating that they were brothers. Samuel Newton's father was Samuel who married Margaret Portman. Samuel's father was John. According to the AGI of Ga., a birth of a Samuel to a John & Martha was born on 11 Feb 1798. That is the exact date of Samuel Newton's father birth. That is how we got the name of Martha Elizabeth. Yes, Thelma is still alive. She is living in Riverside, Ca. at last contact. Your Cousin in San Antonio is Barbara Russell Jones, a dau of Charles Vann Russell & Patricia Nile Brombaugh, Charles is the son of Larkin Lee Russell & Alva Lena Coker. Alva is the dau of Marquis Lafayette Coker & Martha Susan Barber. My family lines is listed on page 216 of the Berryhill Red book. Do you have a copy of this? Most of my facts were gathered by a researcher in the early 50's named Will Price. Also a Mrs. Irma Winchester, Col Earl Berryhill and various other researchers. DAR facts also helped on several of the Berryhills. The facts are so many that it is hard to state which is the deciding one that brought us to where we are today. Dr. Snow did quite a bit of researching when he and Mrs Grimes put together the reprint of the Book of Poems by Samuel Newton. His son is the Head Dr of Anthropology at the University of Okla. Hope this helps out some but if you need more will try to get the exact facts for you. Later? TEXASKEN ---------- > From: David W.
