Iron Spring The community of Iron Spring is located east of Jackson in part of the old first and ninth districts of Henry Co., now Butts Co. This area received its name from a spring discovered by the early settlers on the Higgin' land. The water had a taste of iorn, hence the name Iron Spring. This is one of the older communities of the county. Early settlements are found where old Indian trading posts were once situated. If not the exact spot, they are not far removed from the locality which was considered by the Indians as a good point near a reiver. This area could have been a large INdian settlement since there is an old Indian cemetery located near the Iron Spring Community House. It is difficult to mention with any degree of accuracy the names of the peioneer citizens who lived in the Iron Spring area and helped to develop the community.
