I think it is probable that Ella Thomason was the daughter or grand daughter or Carroll and Nancy J. Markham. If a daughter, then her mother Nancy J would have been 52 years old. If a granddaughter, then Nancy's daughters Mary A., Sarah J., Eliza, Melissa, or Martha C could have been Ella's mother. See the 1910 census below, where Nancy Marcum is listed as grandmother. And Ella Thomason signed her death certificate.

According to this post, Nancy, the widow of Carroll Markham, was Nancy Jane Cochran. She died in 1912. Here is her death certificate. The person that provided the information was Mrs. Ella Thomason of Thornton, Texas. It appears that both Carroll and Nimrod intermarried with the Thomason family. Nimrod married the widow Eliza Ann Burns Thomason.
