
BURGESS FAMILY
Samuel Burgess was born in England in 1662. In 1685 he came to Falls Twp., PA settling on 200 acres of land purchased of William Penn for one silver shilling per acre. In 1689, Samuel gave six acres of land for a Friends Meeting House and graveyard. Of his wife, little is known except that her name was Eleanor. This couple had children. The first was Joseph born 1689. He married Hannah Wilson on 7 day 3 month 1718 and died in 1746. Joseph was my sixth great -grandfather. The second was Samuel who was a member of Assembly in 1712. He married Ann Snowden. Next was John who married Mary Duer. Then Daniel who married twice to wives currently unknown and had no children. Priscilla who married Samuel Bunting about 1716 and Sarah who married John Hutchinson completed the family of six children.
Among the children of Joseph Burgess and Hannah Wilson was a daughter Sarah. Sarah married Zebulon Heston III on 27 October 1756 in Bucks County, PA. They were Quakers and their marriage is recorded at Buckingham Monthly Meeting. They are my fifth great-grandparents.
