John and Cassandra's first eight children were baptized at Rock Creek Chappel where they were married. It is believed John and his family attended the Church in Rockville.
It is thought that John and his family removed from Montgomery County, Md to Ohio county circa 1814, and the Church records seem to bear this out, as their ninth son William was born 26 november 1814, and he is not listed in the Church Registry.
Some feel that the family came via the Cumberland Gap driving oxen, which was the land route usually taken from Md. Along with John and Cassandra and thier eight children was John's brother Zachariah and his family was also settled in Ohio County, and another brother Hezekiah with his family, who first stopped in Ohio County before going on into Christian County, Ky.
Indeed these must have been hardy men, to pull up roots, all with large families, and venture into the then wild country of Kentucky. John would have been about 44 at the time. Without checking deeds, it is known just where in Ohio County, that John Settled, but when his will was made in 1855, he mentions a tract of 300 acres he then lives on. On 1840 census he owned four slaves.
It is thought that John lived in the vicinity of south Beaver Dam, as he is buried in an Old Austin Cemetery, along with his wife Cassandra and several of his children, just outside of Beaver Dam, on the old Taylor Mines Rd.

After the death of his first wife Cassandra, John Married Polly Redman and his third marriage was to Polly's sister Anna. There were no children as a result of the second two marriage.

John Austin was born circa 1739 place of birth and parents unknow at this writing. He wrote his will in Montgomery County Maryland in 1818, which was probated 12 November 1823.
John maried circa 1761/1762 apparently in Fredrick County, Md, as his first child was born there in 1763. His wife was Chairty, born circa 1732 by the 1776 census. the record of this marriage cannot be found. however all evidence points to the fact that she was Charity Kendrick, the daughter of Thomas and Ann Kendrick of Frederick County. It is also believe that Charity was first married to John's brother Thomas Austin. A birth is recorded in Prince George's Parish, Fredrick County,a son born to Thomas and Charity Austin in 1760. This son Thomas is founf living with John and Charity in the 1776 census, along with Alexander and Kesiah, believed to be children of Thomas and Charity. In the same census a Mary Austin age 80 is also found in John's Household, and no doubt is the mother of our John Austin. They are shown living in the Lower Potomack Hundred, land which was taken from Frederick County in 1776 and made into Montgomery County.
John and Charity were members of Prince George;s Parich (Protestant Episcopal Church), then Frederick County, Now Montgomery County. This parish covered a very large area, all records kept in the same book. Today our Austin records are founded recorded at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. an at Christ Church, Rockville, Maryland. We cannot know with any certainty just to which of these two churches John and Charity belonged. Although the listing of graves in Montgomery County is fairly complete, the burial of John and Charity has not been located. Neither can the grave be found for John's Mother. However, time and the farmers plow have destoyed many of these old sand stones.
In 1778 john Auston (SIC) took the Oath of Fidelity and Support during the revolution before the Worshipful Samuel W. Magruder. No other records can be found of John's contribution to the rebellion.
John's plantaion, as it was called in those days, consisted of 246 acres which was named "Conclusion". We have been unable to pinpoint this land exactly, but it appears it wsa in the area od the present day Bethesda, Maryland.
