Minnie Lou HELMER was born February 12, 1890. Minnie Lou was
listed in the 1900 census with her mother Lucy and several of her siblings in
the Beat Five area of Lee County. Around 1904 Lou was in Jones County with her
brothers John, and William and her mother Lucy. According to some land records
she may have been in McClellan County during this time also.
By 1911 Lou married Charlie MEADOR, son of James MEADOR and Mary E. He was born October 28, 1883 in Navarro County, Texas. Charlie's grandfather David L. Meador was a veteran of the Civil War serving with Moss's Company, Company E, 13th Texas Infantry Regiment, Navarro County, Texas
In 1920 Charlie and Lou were living in Brazoria County next door to His father James and grandmother Mary.
Charlie loved to play baseball and listen to the games on the radio even after they got a T.V.
Charlie and Lou had five children, Doyle, Dale, Joel, Otha Chester, and Lucille
Charlie died January 1974 in Bay City, Matagorda, TX and Minnie Lou followed in May 02, 1976 in Bay City, Matagorda, TX
Otha Chester was a builder and farmed and ranched on the side. He was special because even after all these years all of his children swore he was their best friend. He always made sure he taught them everything he knew. They all know how to plant crops, milk cows, put on a new roof, all are officially a Jack of All Trades and A Master of None.
