ROSA INEZ CASTLEBERRY was born August 19, 1906 and died May 07, 1992. She was the daughter of THOMAS COLEY ELLIS and MARY CASTLEBERRY.

Her parents were never married and when she was 4 years old her mother married TOM HEATH. She called him Daddy Tom. ROSA said that on the night her mother and Daddy Tom were married she was sitting by her grandparents fireplace and she started to cry. When her grandmother ask her what she was crying about she told her she wouldn't have anybody to sleep with now because her mother was married. She said her grandmother told her "Oh yes you do! You can sleep with me!".

ROSA married DOCK W WEEKS on February 11, 1925. She helped to raise the four children he had with his first wife. She and DOCK had several children of their own.

She was a tiny woman but she must have been a tough woman. She lived when times were hard and families were poor. She suffered the loss of one son as an infant, one son who died with pneumonia at the age of 14 and a son who was killed when a tractor turned over on him at the age of 17. She worked in a sewing factory for many years operating a press machine. She could make the best kool-aid pies you ever ate. Every year she would make fruit cakes for Christmas and wrap them and store them. If some of the children could find them they would cut the bottom out so they could eat it and put the cake back so she wouldn't know.

When she rode on the car with Dock driving she always sat close to him. The grandchildren would tease her about sitting so close to Popper. She told them she had to sit close so he wouldn't turn to look at her when he was talking to her. After Dock died she stayed on in thier home until she fell and broke her hip. She walked with a walker for about 2 years before she became unable to get around on her own. She lived with her youngest daughter Jo Linda for about 12 years. Although she was 86 years old when she died her hair was still black with very few strands of gray.

ROSA died at the home of her daughter Jo Linda Farris in Coffee County, Alabama near Elba. She is buried at the Weeks Chapel Cemetery in Geneva County, Alabama near the Lowery Community.
