Josephine is the baby in photo. Joseph Bolt, Daughter Josephine in lap, his mother Ella Louise ( Barkwill) Bolt & Grandmother ( Gramma Asplin) born Lousia Cross. Was Louisa (Cross) Barkwill until she remarried to Mr. Asplin. She is sitting in chair. Photo was taken inAkron , Ohio about 1913 at Joe's mothers home in Akron . I have attached the info I sent to the funeral home
for her long obit that appeared in Sunday, 21 March.
Funeral is 2pm Saturday at Kimball Ave. United
Methodist Church and burial in Elmwood Cemetery in
Waterloo. Pay particular attention to the survivors
as those are kind of messed up on your site.

She died on the 16th of March in Covenent Medical
Center, Waterloo.

Born in Akron, Ohio, on March 17, 1911 to Joseph C.
and Pearl Mae Wagner Bolt.
Graduated from Bound Brook, NJ High School 1929, and
in 1934 with a Masters in Social Work Degree from
Simmons College in Boston, MA.
She married Kenneth H. Dykeman, April 11, 1936 in New
Bedford,MA. She and her husband owned and operated a
funeral home in New Bedford and Acushnett, MA until
moving to Waterloo in 1951. She and her husband owned
and operated Kearns Dykeman Chapel from 1951 until his
death in 1958 and she operated the funeral home until
1963 when her son returned.

She was the first social worker for Cedar Valley
Hospice and received the Iowa Hospice Organization
Volunteer of the Year for 1981 and Distinquished and
Devoted Service award for her volunteer service from
1979-1986.
She was a member of Kimball Ave United Methodist
Church and held various leadership and service roles
within the church, AAUW, American Red Cross, BPW,
YWCA, National Association of Social Workers,
Association of Accredited Social Workers, and Simmons
College Social Work Alumnae.
She was honored by the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce as
Waterloo Citizen of the Year in 1977 for her efforts
of post funeral service counseling for Kearns-Dykeman
Chapel for which she received national recognition in
funeral service.
She is survived by one son Charles H. “Chick” Dykeman
and wife Nancy of Evergreen, CO, four grandchildren,
Cathy Jo Dykeman of Waterloo, Shari Tritch and husband
Bill of Chaska, MN, Kenneth H. Dykeman II and wife
Anna Marie of Albuquerque, NM, and Juliana Lise
Dykeman of Evergreen, CO.
Preceded in death by two great-grandsons Joseph and
Conlin Chicosz, she is survived by four great
grandchildren, Ashly, Haley Josephine, and Blake
Tritch of Chaska,MN., and Max T. Dykeman of
Albuquerque, NM
Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday at Kimball Ave.
United Methodist Church. There will be no public
visitation and burial has taken place in Elmwood
Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to Kimball Ave.
United Methodist Church or Waterloo Community
Playhouse in her name.
