Location of BOLT & Co. was 489 Lincoln Street in Worcester MA. This
was also known as the Buxton Family homestead.
That location became the location of the Sharton-Lincoln Hotel. It
was a golf course after old BUXON homestead house was torn down. My family
, mother Dorothy Bolt & father Joseph Bolt were living there during
depression times in 1932. The company started selling designed Guide Cards,
Office appliances(new & used), office filing systems, tabulating accessories,
and was a growing company based on JC selling ability. They were receiving
orders from Simplex Time Recorder, Kroger Grocery & other wholesale
groceries in Tenn. & SC, Simmons Mattress, State of PA.
Joseph received a job offer ( after depression) from Standard Register
of Dayton OH which was too good to refuse as it was a fairly new company
and a challenge. This was when Mr. Wright bought the company from JC Bolt
in (1934).
Dorothy remembered it as a one horse (or 2 horses) operation , attaching colloid tops on special cut guide cards by hand, ordering best quality press board, going into Dresleavy Co. in Boston to check on thin part of it, to Cambridge Addressing Machine & Equipment Co. for office supplies, etc.
Wrights family might have owned a vacuum cleaner Co. ---Electrolux ?
It was 1934 Mr. Wright had his bad back problem & never did straighten
up.
Customers we had 1931-1934.
From Dorothy’s 1934 diary: Feb 1931 or 34 the start of Mr. Wright’s
back problems. He was in bed for a while with back problems and couldn't
straighten up. She saw him a few yrs later and he was still bent over.
David ( Wright ?) was 2 & ½ yrs old then.
