Ann ( Everett) Cross

Ann ( Everett ) CROSS of Wiltshire , daughter of a Quinton & Everett---More on this later, including old
town maps of Wiltshire town born & lived.
Likely daughter of David & Sarah of Ipswitch, Stoke Green Baptist , Suffolk, Eng. . Was only Ann Everett in
proper time frame born, but should be treated with skepticism.

o One of his children was daughter Louisa Elizabeth (Cross) Barkwill, b. 1825. & also known as Gramma
Palmer later in life.
Have photo of his daughter Louisa Cross, my direct ancestor (later on life)
So the story goes: His daughter Louisa came over from England on a Sailing vessel when only 5 years old. This
means he had a wife in England. Was her sister there also? Came via St, Lawrence River.
Ref. Jerry my have come to US in 1833, where did I get this? Possible from Louisa (1825-5) = 1820? Note,
not if she was born in 1825??
 Lousia died 15 Sept. 1915.
Jerry entered USA in 1833.

From Census of 1840. J. Cross ( assumed Jerry) in Cleveland had 8 people listed in his home and are as follows,
one each:

(1) Male 30-40- likely Jerry? Therefore born 1800-1810! (Fits 1805 date on 1840 census)

(2) Male 10-15- poss. Jerry Jr.? " " 1825-1830! Not George ! Not Thomas ?

(3) Male 5-10- Likely George? 1830-1835

(4) Female 0-5 , 1835-1840 Likely Mary Ann !

(5) Female 5-10 (b.1830-1835)- Could this be the to-be Gramma Palmer. If so, and the Louisa over to US at 5,
would leave Gramma Palmer able to have a sister over at age 1, on boat, and still make this category! Gramma
Palmer is: Mary C. Cross who married John N. Palmer 8 Sept. 1868 in DeWitt, Ill. from LDS IGI records.

(6) Female 10-15 (1825-1830)- likely Louisa as she would have been 12. Likely of my line!

(7) Female 30-40 (b.1800-1810)- Likely Jerry's wife?

(8) ???

Census of 1850

1850 FEDERAL CENSUS INDEX CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO
CROSS, J. ; East Cleveland Page 298---Assume this was a Jerry Jr. as Jerry Sr. was already dead.

The microfilm was very difficult to read in this part:
East Cleveland, p. 298B:

J Cross, age 48, male, grocer, value of property owned: $2000, place of birth England
Ann, age 48, female, place of birth England
George, 18, male, place of birth England
Mary A., age 15, place of birth England
Eldane (this probably is not correct as it was very difficult to read-Poss. Elain ?), age 11 ( b. 1839) ,
female, place of birth Ohio
Lucy, age 5, female, place of birth Ohio
Albert, 2, male, place of birth Ohio

There is a "Jeremiah Cross" listed on page 462, 10th Ward in the 1870 census for Cuyahoga County.  I only own
the
rolls for Wards 4-7, so I can't look him up for you.
I own wards 4-12 of the 1880 census, but there was no Jeremiah listed in the index.

Joseph Bolt, his grandson, claimed Jerry had a Gold headed cane left with Joseph's 1st wife or sister Fern as well

as Daguerreotype photo of him? I have several other period hand me down, relatives photos but no traceable
matching names!

* Poss birth records of children under 7 at 1840 period? See female 0-5 years.

Q- See Jeremiah Cross married to Martha Dyson, 1847 in Hocking, Ohio! Could this be Jerry Jr.? Not Sr. unless

remarried. Sr. had young children in 1840!

* Jeremiah Cross married to Ann Everett, 20 Nov., 1823 in Britford, Wiltshire, Eng.
