Ennis or Kelly |
This photo is actually an oil painting that measures approximately 41 inches by 70 inches. There is no signature on the painting, or any indication as to the date it was painted. The painting belonged to Joseph and Hannah (Ennis) Kelly. Joseph was born in Ocean County, NJ in 1864 and Hannah was born in Monmouth County, NJ in 1865. All of their parents were born in Ireland. |

Kohn |
This photo and the two that follow, are believed to be of the Kohn family. They are probably brothers or cousins in the German Army. This photo was taken by the Theodor Möller Photographisches Eitelier located at Franken-Strasse 5 in Stralsund. All the photos were taken in Mecklenburg, which gives a clue as to the origins of our Kohn family. Our John Frederick Kohn immigrated to the U.S. in 1882 at the age of 56. All of his children were born in Germany, and it is family legend that he left several children behind in Germany. Could these be pictures of the children left behind? Or, perhaps photos of some of the sons that immigrated with him? |
