12 unk (Courier mail?), James isaac, Obit. Obituary
James Isaac Markwell
Another of Queenslands grand old pioneers, Mr James Isaac Markwell, passed away at his home, "Archookoora" Greenslopes, on Thursday night 26th of April, at the age of 85.
The late Mr Markwell (son of the late Isaac Beecham Markwell) came to Queensland 80 years ago with his parents on the sailing ship "Chasely", he was educated at a private school in Brisbane, and then went to the Bush where most of his life was spent, first on the Logan and next in the Burnett District where in the 70's he and his brother Charles for some years owned Brooklands and Kingaroy stations (where the towns so named now stand.) The partenership was then dissolved, and subsequently Mr. James Markwell sold the latter place but retained Brooklands and aquired Eddyston Vale Station on the Maranoa, and Archoocoora in the Burnett, residing with his family first at Brooklands and later selling it and making his home at Archookoora until 1919 when he retired to Brisbane. Other grazing properties owned by him in recent years prior to his retirement were Glenrock (Burrandown), Warramoo (Miles), and Ormonde Station (Chinchilla). Mr Markwell's two oldest sons Aubrey and Reginald served with the A.I.F. at the front, the former paying the supreme sacrifice in France and the latter serving with the Light Horse in Egypt until the end of the war. Mr. Markwell married in 1885 Miss Adelaide Comport, by whom he is survived; he is also survived by one daughter, Miss Ruby Markwell (Greenslopes), and two sons, Mr. Reginald Markwell (pastoralist, Chinchilla) and Mr. Royden Markwell (orchadist, Caboolture). Although in failing health for the last five years, Mr. Markwell possessed a wonderful memory to the last, and his reminiscenses of the early days of Queensland would have formed an interesting book. His funeral took place in the Toowong Cemetery on 28th April, the Rev. Canon Garland officiating at the graveside.
Floral tributes were sent by the following:- His home loved ones; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Markwell; Amy and Family; Laura, Trix and John; Connie, Tom and Cliff; Eva, Maude, Dorothy and Emily; Lance and Agnes; Gladys, Will and Audrey(Hong Kong); Steela and Fred; J.I.B.Markwell; Fred, May and the Children; Mr. and Mrs. J Grayson and Family; Barker and magee families; Mr. and Mrs. Clarry Senr., and Family; Mr. and Mrs. P. Doyle and Family;Edith M. Rich; Mr. and Mrs.A. H. Elliot and Dorothy; Mr. and Mrs. Shelley and Family; All at Mt. Mia; Mr W. Miller and Family; Mrs. Dalby and Girls; Mr. and Mrs. Wynne; Stiles W. G. (Pg2) My niece told me in her last letter that your Uncle Mr. Betts was so very pleased to see our photos. Tom, he is in the shop, could remember Uncle well but the girls could not. They all thought Fred a jolly looking Boy.
You knew Mr & Mrs Green Mrs G died some time back and poor Mr G Died last month it was a blessing all his family were with him. You knew that one (pg3)of his son's wanted to come to Australia your father wrote home and told him how bad things were in Australia to wait a time.
Mr. Rayner Betts has a very large shop on Gabriel's hill the paper states that the show was grand at Christmas time he is quite a big man. I have sent you this small present for the front of your dress pin it down at the back and a few cards for the children.
(pg4) We hope you are all well, we had a letter from Dear Laura saying that she was getting slowly better. We are so sorry she has such bad health. I wish you could just see Fred he is taller than his father and he is not thin. He looks older than what he is. Dear do not think me unkind in not writing we send our united love to Jim and your own dear self and little one's and kisses to them. I was glad you liked the little presents

44 Brisbane Courier, Hamilton Markwell - Marriage. Hamilton - Markwell
The Marriage of F. G. Hamilton, barrister, Brisbane, and Ella, second daughter of C B Markwell, Kingaroy, Brisbane, took place on wednesday afternoon December 11 at All sainta Church, Wickham Terrace, which had been decorated by the brides friends with pampas grass, frangipani and white ribbon. The rev. Walter Thompson conducted the service. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore white chiffon taffeta over silk, the trained skirt finished with a padded hem, the bodice made with a yoke finished with a fichu of silk embroidered lace and folds of silver embroidery. Her turquiose and pear ornaments and boquet of rare exotics and white streamers were the bridegrooms gifts. Her sister, the only bridesmaid, wore a dainty mousseline-de-soie over glace, the skirt made very full and finished at the hem with tucks, the bodice of Valenciennes lace and embroidery, with white silk folded belt. Her hat was of pale blue crin straw trimmed with lilac and blue. She wore a gold bangle and carried a boquet of pink and white roses. After the wedding ceremony the bridal party were entertained at breakfast at Kingaroy, to which only the relatives and intimate friends were invited. When leaving for tasmania, Mrs. Hamilton wore a smart frock of pale blue ninon over glace, the bodice made kimino style, with a yoke of oriental applique, and a very becoming hat of burnt straw and floral ribbon.

54 Public Records Office, Robert Foord Will 1849 (Original will dated 1849, (probate?) dated 1854. Scan obtained from Public Records office UK). I believe this will is that of my Robert Foord's father (also named Robert), as he names Robert Foord, plumber of Maidstone in it as his son and as one of the beneficiaries, unless ofcourse there were two Robert Foords, who were both plumbers in Maidstone at the same time?

He also names his other son John Marriner Foord, which suggests that John Foord's mother was Elizabeth Mariner, while Robert Foords mother was most likely Sarah Ann ?. I think that John Marriner Foord was in partnership with his father at the time the will was written and thus got a larger share than the older son, Robert, who had moved away and established his own life in Maidstone.
