The first DeGlandon Reunion was held in 1924 and the family has been getting together ever since (with the exception of a few war years) near McDade, in Bastrop County, Texas. The annual reunion is held on a Sunday in October, nearest to October 19, the birthday of Alcide DeGlandon, born in 1851.

The 2008 Reunion will be held on October 19, 2008, at the VFW Hall in McDade, Texas, on Highway 290 East. We start arriving at 9 or 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to bring a dish to share, but we provide drinks, plates, cutlery, etc. Lunch is around noon. Then families can visit as long as they like. It is only a short trip to the Oak Hill Cemetery where Grandpa DeGlandon is buried, next to his wife, Lizzie.

We used to have the Reunion at the Oak Hill Cemetery until the flooding of 1997 forced us to look for shelter. The VFW Hall has been our reunion site for the last nine years, and is conveniently located, plus it has a kitchen and bathrooms.
