I William Hunnicutt of Prince George County Virginia Being Fully
persuaded that Freedom is the natural Right of all mankind and that it
is my Deauty to do unto others as I would desire to be done by in like
situation & having under my care Negroes of the following names and
ages vizt: David about thirty two years & Judy about Twenty years &
Grace about Twenty Two years of age. I do therefore Emancipate & set
free the above said Negroes and I do for myself, my Heirs, Executors
and Administrators Relinquish all my right, Title, Interest & claim or
pretentions of claim whatsoever, either to their persons or to any
Estate they may hereafter acquire, without any interruption from me, or
any person claiming for, by, or under me. And having also a Negro now
in its minority named The Coleman whom I also hereby Emancipate & set
free, yet I believe it right for me to act as a Guardian over him until
he arrive to the age of twenty one years which will be the tenth day of
the twelfth month one thousand Eight hundred and Eight. And I do for
myself, my Heirs Executors and Administrators relinquish all my Right,
Title, Interest and Claim or pretentions of claim whatsoever either to
his person or to any estate he may acquire after he shall attain to the
age aforesaid. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
this Eleventh day of the twelfth month one thousand seven hundred &
Eighty Seven. William Hunnicutt (Seal) Acknowledged in presence of} John Hinnicutt James Binford At a Court held for Prince George County at the Court house on Tuesday the XIIth day of February 1788.This foregoing Deed for the Emancipation of William Hunnicutt's slaves therein named, was acknowledged by s'd.
