A Thatched Cottage
Gortbawn House, still standing. I believe it is from the late 1700's Maureen Shea, Bridget Costello, Biddie Campbell, Bridget Murphy, Bridget Walsh (my mother) all lived in this house. It had a thatched roof but my grandmother replaced it in the 1940's.
"The Reek" Croagh Patrick Ireland Holy Mountain where St Patrick banished the snakes. A pilgrims climb to the top on the last Sunday in July. Cemetery in the foreground is Murrisk Abbey.
Ballintober Abbey
Walsh House in Culleen where the Walsh Family fled Thornhill during Lord Sligos time 1844. It stands high up on hills near Bengorum to the right of the Reek. You couldnt get much higher up. My grandfather Peter Walsh was born here.
