Gratney and Anna Deem Stukey first moved to Vienna in 1918, living on Smith Avenue, now 23rd Street. In 1923, they bought property on Lewis Avenue, now 27th Street, where they built their home and raised three daughters. They also had three sons, all of whom died in infancy. Gratney was the son of Silas Francis Marion and Rosena Caroline Burgey Stukey. Anna Mary Lavinea Deem was the daughter of Ozias and Catherine Grimm Deem. Gratney worked at the Vitrolite plant in Vienna. The three daughters are Thelma, Mildred, and Ruth. |
