"Another resident of "Susannah", it is likely that "Huneth" and wife began housekeeping in Hanse and Susannah's century-old cottage, until sometime in the 1850's when a new home was erected on the farm for their family. This house, of log construction, stood just across the lane from his parent's large farmhouse. About 2 years after his first wife died following the birth of their ninth child, "Huneth" married Polly Harshman, daughter of Daniel and Lydia Grossnickle Harshman who lived on the old Matthias Ulrich Hirschmann farm, present home of Mrs. Gladys Naille. Huneth and Polly had 2 more children, so eleven children were raised in the "middle" house along the lane."

Frederick Co.; 1850 & 1860 in Middleton Dist., Frederick Co.; 1870 & 1880 in Chester Twp., Wabash Co., Ind. Farmer and German Baptist deacon, minister, & elder near Myersville, Jackson Dist., known for his emotional preaching. Civil War battle of South Mountain ran across his farm; he sent son Emmanuel to Penn. with 7 of farm horses to keep soldiers from confiscating them. Bought 2 farms (100 & 160 acres) & moved 1865 near N. Manchester, Wabash Co.; named street south of his eventual 600 acres 'Maryland Ave.' Also ran 1st steam sawmill in area. Sold land in 1882 to 3 sons; family said that a few years before death he called together his 10 living children one Sunday & gave farm deed to each son & money equivalent to each daughter.
