In the name of God Amen,

(Signed by George Blessing, Henry Shibbitz, and Charles Hooper, and Christina Boyer - her mark.)

- Per undated letter from Marjorie Dowis Killion: "Lloyd Reddick said Peter's mother never learned to speak English."
- From family notes given to us by Dan Boyer, it is noted that Christina "never learned to speak English". Thus, we have the same story being handed down through different branches of the family of Daniel & Christina.

Christina married Daniel Sr. Boyer, son of Abraham Boyer and , about 1796 in , Frederick Co., Maryland. Daniel was born in 1775 in , Frederick, MD. He died in 1831 in , Frederick, MD.

Current thinking among family historians (personal correspondence w/Donald Boyer, York, PA, author of "American Boyers", 1984) is that Daniel was a son of Abraham Boyer, who was an orphaned child of Adam Boyer of Hallam Twp., York and wife Rosina, who married 2nd Michael Bigler of the Ellerton-Wolfsville Brethren community. Some of this may be found in the 1963 supp., 1940 (6th edition) of "American Boyers", in a chapter written by Donald Boyer (pg. 240). "Johan Adam Boyer, was b. ca 1701; m. Anna Rosina..." etc. We cannot document this yet, but there is considerable circumstantial evidence; an older dau. of Adam & Rosina was, for instance, the wife of the revered Elder Daniel Leatherman, who established the Brethren Churches in the area. Daniel was possibly a lay preacher himself; the current minister of the Grossnickle Church, Rev.. Basil Grossnickle, reports church records which list the name of Daniel Boyer concurrently with that of Christian Harshman, an age contemporary, among early ministers, with no other information. This may, however, have been a reference to Daniel and Christina's 2nd son, Daniel, who appears in a listing of ordained ministers and elders dating from about 1750 in the "Brethren Encyclopedia" (1984) Vol. III, p. 1566. A descendant living in the area (March, 1996), Elizabeth Tracey Coffman, Silver Spring, Md., reports a family tradition that her great-great-grandfather, who would be Daniel, was a German Baptist minister.

"Hist. of Frederick Co. " describes early Breth. congregations which met in homes with few records surviving. A "Daniel Boyer" is again mentioned as one of the early ministers of whom little is known.

Per "Grossnickle Descendants in Maryland & Indiana", Carol Constance Boyer, Denver, Co., Nov. 1985 - "assessed 1808 for militia exemption as pacifist in Frederick Co." ... "no probate record found." (Additional family records given to us by Dan Boyer also note that Daniel Sr. was "registered as a pacifist" and "minister of Brethren Church (German)"

REMEMBER, this Abraham/Daniel connection is not yet absolutely proven, but for the purpose of getting the information out to as many Boyer researchers as possible, we are going to make the connection in this volume in hopes that if anyone has information that can disprove the relationship, they will contact us and corrections can be made. (Sometimes, the only way to prove one fact is to disprove another! So, let us know what you know!!)

enlarged his parent's house by constructing a three story addition on the west side, ca 1815-1820. (The kitchen part was prob. built earlier, around 1812) Before the house was completed, John and Polly may have lived in the little cottage of Johannes and Susanna, at the spring site.
