Notes: "Suspected, but not proven, to be the daughter of Johannes "Hanse" and Susannah Grossnickle."--from 1991 correspondence. Since then, I have seen her listed as their daughter. She was 17 years old when she married.
Catherine married Christian Sr. Harshman, son of Matthias Ulrich Harshman and Eva (Harshman) Frey, on 8 Oct 1769. Christian was born on 22 Apr 1744 in , , , Germany. He died on 26 Oct 1816 in , Fred. Co., MD and was buried in , Fred. Co., MD.
Christian Sr. stayed on the farm, "Stony Arabia" after his father and family, except Andrew, moved to West Virginia. He married a neighbor girl, Miss Catherine Grossnickle, and they became the parents of 13 children.
Christian Sr. and Susannah removed to their new farm, "Beighley's Displeasure" when their son, Christian Jr. married; Susannah lived there until it was sold in 1833.(I assume that Christian Sr. died there?)
They are buried on the "Beighley's Displeasure" homestead, located in Locust Valley, between Middletown and Burkittsville, Fred. Co. MD.
Note of interest: 164 3.4 acres of this 222-acre farm consisted of the tracts "Nazarite" and "Tick Nick" which Christian Sr. obtained from his parents.(From 1991 notes of source who wishes to remain anonymous)

Bought land 1794 (30 acres) & 1796 (171 acres) in Frederick Co., Md. Named his two chief tracts of land 'The Two Sons' (294 acres, willed to son John) & 'The Six Daughters' (218 acres, willed to son Peter, with 40-acre 'Rum Spring'.) Grossnickel Meeting House (Church of Brethren) now stands on part of this land. Probably lived with son John in 1829 census, 3rd Dist., Fred. Co. Will of 1818 was probated Dec. 1822."
