     Wesley Ray Thompson was ill with cancer; Cancer of the Lungs. Wesley was a veteran of World War II serving in the Europe Rhine Theater and also served in the Korean Conflict. After military service the Thompsons moved back to Oklahoma from Oregon and Washington.

Wesley owned and operated his own excavation business and Doris kept the books and was always home for us children. She lives at the family home of 45 years in Dewey, Oklahoma. She has a Schnauzer dog Zoe. Doris has always been an extremely good seamstress. She spends time making Teddy Bears and working on quilts. She and Wesley always were involved in square dancing over the years until Wesley's death. Made corporal on November 2, 1864. Discharged June 1, 1865.² He married Nancy Emma Van Houghten in 1868. Joseph died on 3 January 1888 at Taylor, Loup County, Nebraska.²
