     Wesley grew up in the New Market and Hepburn areas in Iowa. He served in the Navy. Upon his discharge he took up residence in Des Moines, Iowa, living with the Young family (in-laws of his brother Estel). Wesley worked at Firestone in various capacities over his years of employment and was a staunch union supporter. He also earned the nickname "Bookie" because whenever there was a bowl game or world series, Wesley was all over the plant at Firestone with his pools. Wesley was born at New Market, Iowa, on 12 August 1924.1 He was the son of Orville Ernest Loghry and Susan Myrtle Jenkins. Gets First Job In Five Years--Then Dies on Way to Work.
     Roy Thornton, 51, of 4118 Bowdoin St., started from his home Monday morning to go to work at his first job in five years.
     On his way to the job he suffered a heart attack. He died on his way to Broadlawns General hospital.
     The job Thornton was to have started was at the Wood Brothers Threshing Machine Co., near E. Fourteenth St. and Aurora Ave.
     During the time Mr. Thornton has been out of work, the family has been supported by three sons. Billy has a WPA job, Roy, Jr., is in a CCC camp at Centerville and Russell is in a CCC camp at Indianola.
     Besides these sons, Mr. Thornton is survived by his widow and four other children, Virgil, Kenneth, Alta and Gladys.

Funeral services were being arranged at Hamilton's funeral home.1

NEWSPAPER OBITUARY: Orval Earnest Loghry [newspaper's spelling], son of George and Nancy Loghry, was born near Hepburn, Iowa, February 1, 1883, and departed this life May 10, 1945, at the Municipal hospital at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 10 days. He spent his entire life in and around Hepburn.

He was united in marriage to Miss Myrtle Jenkins in the year 1901. To this union were born 13 children, Mrs. Frank Dunn of Gravity, Iowa, Mrs. Earl Ross of Vancouver, Washington, Mrs. Joe Wardlow of Corning, Iowa, Wesley and Estel in the navy, Clifford serving in the engineering corps, Paul of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Cecil of Cumberland, Iowa, David of Waterloo, Henry at home, and Mrs. Pearl Dunn of Hepburn. Two sons, Guy and Richard, departed this life in infancy. Nine grandchildren, two sisters and four brothers and a host of friends and relatives also mourn his death.

Funeral services were held at the Walker Funeral Home Saturday May 12 at 2 o'clock, with Dr. Orr in charge.

Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Cress and Boyd Sims, Grover Shields, Mike Loveless, Charley Geer and Leonard Geer.5

     Richard was born circa July 1926. He was the son of Orville Ernest Loghry and Susan Myrtle Jenkins. Richard died on 17 December 1926 at Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. Robert Loghry, 5-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Loghry of near Hepburn, died Friday at the Iowa State university hospital where he had been taken for treatment. The body arrived Sunday and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the United Brethren church at Rose Hill cemetery southwest of Hepburn, with Rev. Geo. A. Lawton, pastor of the Methodist church of Villisca, in charge of the service. Interment was in the Rose Hill cemetery. Besides his parents the babe leaves eleven brothers and sisters--Villisca Review.1 His body was interred on 20 December 1926 at Hepburn, Page County, Iowa, at Rose Hill.

     George was born at Indiana on 4 June 1842.2,3 He was the son of George William Loghry and Nancy Jane Axtel. He married Nancy Jane Roumans at Oskaloosa, Mahaska County, Iowa, on 15 March 1866. They were married by a Charles Gates, pastor of Congregational Church, Oskaloosa..4 Came to Page County in 1868 by wagon train. Settled about two miles north of Hepburn, where George and Nancy bought 40 acres, partly in the hills. Here they built a dugout where some of their children were born. They cut logs from the place and built a house, believed to be in 1873-78, later adding to it with native lumber from the place. They had 13 children, four died in their youth. Like all pioneers, they depended on what they grew or made. They planted an orchard, berries, asparagus, rhubarb and a large garden; raised chickens and geese, for food and feathers for pillows and featherticks. Their last child was born June 30, 1891, and she died young. George grew his own tobacco and hung it in the hayloft to dry. In later years he was almost blind, but was a very jolly person.

     Kenneth was born at Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, on 12 December 1922.1,2 He was the son of Roy Clinton Thornton and Anna Mae Rouse. The 1930 Census listed Kenneth George Thornton in addition to Anna Mae Rouse, William Martin Thornton, Carl Roy Thornton, Russell Claude Thornton and Virgil Franklin Thornton in the household of Roy Clinton Thornton, in Lee Township, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.3 Kenneth George Thornton was enumerated as Kenneth Thornton. Single white male, age 7. Born in Iowa as were both parents.3 He married Lois Clemons at Kansas City on 29 June 1946. Kenneth's occupation: Warehouse Supervisor. At Veterans Administration.4 Kenneth died on 19 April 1988 at Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, at age 65.4,1 His body was interred at Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, at Laurel Hill Cemetery, at Block T Space 638.5
