John E. Everly [Parents] was born in 1862 in Il.. He married Minnie L..
BIOGRAPHY: He was attending school in 1870 per the 1870 census of Canton,IL.
BIOGRAPHY: In 1880 he was a "laborer" in Canton, IL. still living withhis widowed mother (see FHC film #125207, page 97C).
Info on his wife came from the 1920 census of Canton, Fulton co., IL.when they were living at 746 E. Walnut (see Vol. #147, ED #80, sht #6,line #70).
Minnie L. was born in 1865 in Il.. She married John E. Everly.
Jerome Kirkpatrick [Parents] was born in May 1854 in Ky.. He married Irene Johnson on 7 Oct 1877 in Fulton co., Il..
BIOGRAPHY: Wm. E. Rohr found a 28 yr. old Jerome Kirkpatrick in the 1880census of Buckhart, Fulton co., IL. (see FHC film #1,254,207; ED #33, sht#35, line #46). This Jerome had a 22 yr. old wife, Irene, and a 1 yr.old daughter, Maud. They were in the same household as a 51 yr. oldIsiah B. Johnson, and Isiah's daughters, 14 yr. old Bell, 11 yr. oldEllen, 9 yr. old Jenette, and 7 yr. old Lilian. Also living with Isiahwas his mother, 73 yr. old Chloel (spelling ??, hard to read this census)Johnson. These Johnson family members could be related to Irene (herfather, sisters, and grandmother).
BIOGRAPHY: Then, in the 1900 census of Canton, IL. (see FHC film#1,240,302; ED #11, Sht #4) is found the same family as above, onlyJerome is listed as "Joseph" (one of these could be a middle or nickname). He was a "day laborer" at the time, renting a house at 666 S.2nd. Ave. Living with him was his wife (Irene), 4 of their children(Maude, Ray, Ross,Dora, and Blanch), a nephew (13 yr old Joseph Graves),and a sister of Irene's (27 yr old Lillie Johnson), who was single. Thisrecord indicates that they (Joseph & Irene) were married 23 yrs, at thetime, which matches with their marriage date. Also note that Maude is inboth households, having aged 20 years between census. Therefore, knowingthis is the right connecting family, we have connected the parents andgrandparents of Irene to her.
Irene Johnson [Parents] was born in Apr 1858 in Il.. She married Jerome Kirkpatrick on 7 Oct 1877 in Fulton co., Il..
In the 1900 census of Canton, it is recorded that Irene's father was bornin Ohio and her mother in Illinois. She (Irene) had had 5 children bythis time and all of them were still living then.
They had the following children:
Thornton Kirkpatrick [Parents] was born in May 1860 in Ky.. He married Anna Johnson on 18 Oct 1877 in Fulton co., Il..
BIOGRAPHY: Thornton is listed on the 1880 census of Buckhart Township,Fulton co., IL. (FHC film #1,254,207; ED 33, sht 16, line #7) as a 21 yrold Farm Laborer born in KY. It is also indicated that both of hisparents were born in KY. He is married at the time (June 15, 1880) to 19yr old Anna (born in IL.), and they have a one yr old daughter, R. Bell.
BIOGRAPHY: He was living on St. David Street in the village of St. Davidsin Buckhart Township, IL. at the taking of the 1900 census there on June15th. He was 40 years old, renting a home on St. David Street (housenumber wasn't recorded), and had just taken a new job as a "Teamster" inApril of that year (1900). With him were his wife and 7 children. Itwas also recorded on this census that his father was born in Ohio and hismother was born in Kentucky.
Anna Johnson was born in Jun 1860 in Il.. She married Thornton Kirkpatrick on 18 Oct 1877 in Fulton co., Il..
Could she also be another daughter of Isiah B. Johnson, the father toAnna's brother-in-law's wife, Irene (Johnson) who is married to JeromeKirkpatrick? Remember that many families' children married more than onechild from another family. Especially, if the two families continued tolive close to each other, like we might have here in Fulton county.
BIOGRAPHY: It was recorded on the 1900 census of Buckhart that she wasthe mother of 8 children, of which only 7 were still living, at thetime. Her father was born in OH. and her mother in IL.
They had the following children:
Stephen Frazier.Stephen married Mary A. Kirkpatrick on 15 Mar 1883 in Fulton co., Il..
Mary A. Kirkpatrick [Parents] was born in 1862 in Ky.. She married Stephen Frazier on 15 Mar 1883 in Fulton co., Il..
She was living with her mother in 1880.
Wm. E. Rohr checked the 1880 Illinois census for a Stephen Frazier andcame up with one possibility: found a 29 yr old IN. born farmer that wasmarried to a 36 yr old IN. born Mary M. Frazier, with three children(John E., James S., and Mirtie M.) and living in Brouilletts Creek, Edgarco., IL. (see FHC film #1254204, page 3B). Check the 1900 census forStephen to be married to our Mary (check the age & birth place of hiswife in 1900, against the above mentioned wife of Stephen, to see if theyhave changed).
Thomas Beasley , Jr. [Parents] was born on 8 Oct 1833 in Oh.. He died on 14 Aug 1915 in Canton, Fulton co., Il. He was buried on 16 Aug 1915 in Canton, Fulton co., Il. He married Elizabeth Wolf on 26 Sep 1852 in Fulton co., Il.. Their sealing was submitted.
BIOGRAPHY: In 1870, Thomas was a "Farm Laborer" in the Orion Townshiparea, Fulton co., IL. (see FHC film #545,722; page 189). He was livingnext door to his brother-in-laws, Frederick and Thomas Wolf, who werealso farm laborers.
BIOGRAPHY: He was a farmer in the Orion area per the 1880 census. Thisrecord also indicated that his father was born in N.C. and his mother inW.V.
BIOGRAPHY: In 1900, Thomas and Elizabeth, with a nephew (TheordoreBonney), a step-niece (Mary), and a great-niece (Bernice Tarr), were allliving at 437 Cordelia Court in Canton, IL. Thomas was retired andrenting their home. It was noted on this census record that they werethe parents of "4 living children". It was also noted herein that bothof Thomas' parents were born in VA.
BIOGRAPHY: In 1910, Thomas was living with his daughter's (Evaline)family, the Samuel Denny (spelled Denney on census) household, at 637Keeling Court, in Canton, IL. Thomas was living on his "own income".This census indicates that his father was born in VA. and his mother inW.VA. It is noted on this census record that Thomas was "widowed 2".This would mean that he must have married another, after Elizabeth diedin 1902, and his second wife had to have died also, before the taking ofthis census on April 23rd, 1910.
The Ancestral File shows his middle initial as "J". It also has hisparents DOB and place estimated.
Elizabeth Wolf [Parents] was born on 8 May 1835 in Fulton co., Il.. She died on 16 Apr 1902 in Canton, Fulton co., Il. She was buried in Canton, Fulton co., Il. Her sealing to parents was submitted. Her baptism was submitted. Her endowment was submitted. She married Thomas Beasley , Jr. on 26 Sep 1852 in Fulton co., Il.. Their sealing was submitted.
Other marriages:Burris,
BIOGRAPHY: In 1870 census of Orion Township, Fulton co., IL., she wasmarried and living next door to her brothers, Frederick and Thomas.
BIOGRAPHY: The 1880 census of Orion Township indicates that her fatherwas born in VA. and her mother was born in IN. Note that there was twoWolf families living next door to Elizabeth and Thomas Beasley, at thistime. These may have been brothers of Elizabeth (it's hard to make outthe names of each of these Wolf "heads of households", but on the 1880census CD's they are listed as 27 yr old IL. born William Webster and 39yr old IL. born J. Pool Wolf).
BIOGRAPHY: The 1900 census of Canton, IL. indicates the same about thebirth place of her parents as above, also.
They had the following children:
F i Barbara Beasley was born in 1856 in Orion, Fulton co., Il.. F ii Evaline Beasley M iii Allen Beasley
Isiah B. Johnson [Parents] was born in 1829 in Oh..
BIOGRAPHY: Wm. E. Rohr found Ohio born 51 yr. old Isiah B. Johnson (hisfather was born in PA. and his mother in MA.), and Isiah's daughters, 14yr. old Bell (IL. born), 11 yr. old Ellen (KA. born.; if this is correct, then Isiah moved from Illinois to Kansas, and then back to Illinois), 9yr. old IL. born Jenette, and 7 yr. old IL. born Lilian, in the 1880census of Buckhart, Fulton co., IL. (see FHC film #1,254,207; ED #33, sht#35, page 77C). Also living with Isiah was his mother, 73 yr. old MA.born Chloe (spelling ??, hard to read this census) Johnson. Both of herparents were also born in MA., per this census. Isiah's son-in-law, 28yr. old "Farm Laborer" Jerome Kirkpatrick, with his 22 yr. old wife,Irene (Isiah's daughter), and their 1 yr. old daughter, Maud, were inthis same household as Isiah B. Johnson at this time.
In the same area as above, also found a 27 yr old IL. born "Farm Laborer"by the name of Thomas J. Johnson (his wife was 22 yr old N.Y. born AnnaB.; her parents were born in Germany). According to this 1880 census, his father was born in Ohio and his mother was born in IL. Could this beanother son of Isiah's? We need to look in the 1860 census of Illinoisfor Isiah, with his wife and this child. Per the Marriage Index,Illinois 1851-1900, this Thomas J. Johnson married Anna B. Shumaker onAug. 17, 1876 in Fulton co., IL.
He had the following children:
F i Irene Johnson F ii Bell Johnson was born in 1865 in Il.. F iii Ellen Johnson was born in 1869 in Il..
BIOGRAPHY: The 1880 census of Buckheart, Fulton co., IL. indicates shewas born in Kansas, instead of Illinois, as in the 1900 census.F iv Jenette Johnson was born in 1871 in Il..
On the Illinois marriage Index, 1851-1900 there is a record of a JennieJohnson married to a Peter E. Myres on July 22, 1894 in Fulton co., IL.
There also is a Jennie Johnson on the same CD married to a William T.Moran on April 25, 1895 in Fulton co., IL.
Could either of these records pertain to our Jenette?F v Lilian Johnson was born in Dec 1872 in Il..
On the Marriage Index, Illinois 1851-1900 there is a record of a Leila A.Johnson married to a Alva Hedden on July 1, 1897 in Fulton co., IL.
Same Cd also has a Lillie L. Johnson married to a Frank Thrasher on Jan21, 1894 in Fulton co., IL.
Either of these could be our Lillian.
William Allen Champ [Parents] was born on 30 Dec 1838 in Oh.. He died in 1880 in Il.. His sealing to parents was submitted. He was baptized on 6 Jun 1959. He was endowed on 5 Sep 1959. He married Fanny Arnold on 12 Sep 1860 in Fulton co., Il..
BIOGRAPHY: He was a "farm laborer" in the area of Orion, IL., per the1870 census of that area. He, his wife, and their 3 children (at thetime), were all living with, whom it is believed is, his wife's parents.See further info on them in the notes on Fanny.
BIOGRAPHY: Apparently, by June 4th, 1880, William had moved from Orion toTrivoli, Fulton co., IL. He shows up there as a 40 year old farmer, whois widowed by then. He has his 4 youngest children living with himthere, all per the 1880 census of Trivoli. Also, his brother, Victor R.Champ, is farming close by with his family.
Fanny Arnold [Parents] was born in 1837 in R.I.. She died in 1870/1880 in (Orion, Fulton co., Il.). She married William Allen Champ on 12 Sep 1860 in Fulton co., Il..
Her full name may have been Anna Frances Arnold, as indicated on the IGI.
Fanny, with her husband and children, was living in the same house aswhat appears to be her parents, in Orion Township, IL. in 1870. Thiscouple was 70 yr old R.I. born William Arnold (a farmer) and 68 yr oldR.I. born Annie (keeping house). Also, next door to them was 29 yr oldR.I. born William Arnold (farm hand), with his wife and children. Itappears that these Arnold families, including Fanny (she also being R.I.born), were all of the same family.
Wm. E. Rohr, in his trying to research this situation back into 1850,came across the following Rhode Island Arnold families. It appears thatone of them could be the above mentioned William & Annie:
#1. 1850 in Westerly, Washington co., R.I. (FHC film #444,813; pg 422)
William T. Arnold 50 yrs old "Manufaction" $5500 R.I. born
Anny ? 48 yrs oldR.I. born
Benjamin ? 21 yrs oldR.I. born
Harriet Jane 18 yrs oldR.I. born
Ann ?? 16 yrs oldR.I. born
Willam B. 13 yrs oldR.I. born
Thomas 7 mos oldR.I. born
Note: even though there is no 13 yr old Fanny within thishousehold, in this 1850 census, there is a 14 yr old Julia F. Arnold inanother household in the same area (see info written on back of censuscopy). This Julia F. (does the "F" stand for Frances or Fanny??) couldbelong to the above family but visiting this other household when censuswas taken. Also, if this is our Fanny, she could be 14, instead of 13,because this 1850 census was taken in September, versus July in 1870.This is the same William and Annie as who were living in Orion in 1870above (note the ages of them).#2. 1850 in Warwick, Kent co., R.I. (FHC film #022,264; page 186)
William Arnold 57 yr old Agriculture R.I. born
Emily 41 yr old Conn. born
Fanny E. 13 yr old R.I. born
William C. 11 yr old R.I. born
Clementime H. 6 yr old R.I. born
Charlotte C. 3 yr old R.I. born
Note: even though the age is right for this Fanny, the age ofthe father, and the name & age of the first listed female (usually thiswould be the wife), does not match those in the 1870 census. Also, thebirth place of Emily (if she is William's wife) does not match that ofthe 1870's wife of William. There also were a couple other Arnoldfamilies in the same area as these last mentioned ones.===================================================================
NOTE: Whenever one is dealing with the census, as well as other oldrecords, remember that there were a lot of mistakes made when the censustakers, and/or clerks, took down the info (such as ages, birth places, and spelling of names). These "mistakes" make our job, as genealogist, that much more challenging to keep things in their proper order. Becauseof this possibility, we have elected to not make the above connection tothese indivuals, until more research can be preformed.===================================================================
Wm. E. Rohr has researched every William Arnold (26 listed) listed in the1850 Rhode Island Census Index (these were listed as either "Head ofHousehold" or as a different name in another household). This does notinclude any William's that may not have been "head of household", such ifthey may have been listed with another Arnold "Head of Household", like afather or mother.
They had the following children:
F i Isabella J. Champ F ii Mary Matilda Champ was born in 1864 in Fulton co., Il..
Found on the "Marriage Index, Illinois: 1850-1900" a record of a Mary M.Champ married to a Jacob C. Grissom on Aug. 29, 1880 in Fulton co., IL.This could be our Mary.
Found a unmarried 24 year old IL. born (his father born in IN. and hismother in IL.) "farm hand" Jacob Grissom living with the Josiah & EvalinePierce household in Orion, Fulton co., IL. in the 1880 census (see FHCfilm #1254208, page 325C). This could be the above Jacob C. Grissom. Also found on the same census record, 24 families away, still in Orion, a43 year old IN. born F. Marion Grissom and his wife, 47 year old IL. bornMary, with 7 other children. It is believed these are the parents to 24year old Jacob Grissom (notice their birth states).M iii John F. Champ was born in 1866 in Fulton co., Il.. M iv James W. Champ was born in 1871 in Il..
