Her grand-daughter, 4 year old Mary Thomson (daughterof Jane, who had married a Andrew Thomson), was also living with her(Mary Ann). There was also a 2 year old Jane Thomson there at the time, but, beings she was listed as "other", we don't know who her parentswere. She probably was another daughter of Jane and Andrew Thomson.
NOTE: There was also a 51 yr old Scotland born "farmer" James Neil (bothhis parents were born in Scotland) living in the Winfield, Scott co., IA.area in 1880. This may be a brother to Mary Ann. William Neal was a stone-mason by trade and followed that pursuit inScotland until 1832, when with his family he sailed for the new world, landing at Montreal, Canada. The family lived in several places in thatcountry but the father (William) died soon after coming to the newworld. William's son (name unknown at this time - 2001), who was also astone-mason by trade, then took charge of the family and in 1847 theymoved to Long Grove, Iowa.Special Note: Wm. E. Rohr located another Neil family living inWinfield, Scott co., IA. (see FHC film #1254363, page 267C). The head ofthis household is old enough to be Mary Ann's brother and was also bornin Scotland, like she was. Even though he was listed as a "farmer" in1880, it could still be her brother that was listed as a "stone mason" inthe biography above. It could be a different brother also. Thishousehold was made up of these individuals:
James Neil - 51 yrs old Scotland born (both parents born in Scotland)
Jane (wife) - 46 yrs old Canada born (both parents born in Scotland)
