He had the following children:
F i Mary Etta Gregory
William Christian Frederick Zimmerman [Parents] was born on 9 Sep 1852 in Kleingraude, Mecklenberg, Germany. He died in 1930. He married Rosa Amanda Fredericka Nagel on 15 Nov 1878 in Lone Tree, Johnson co., Ia..
In the 1880 census of Fremont (township containing Lone Tree), Johnsonco., IA. (FHC film #1,254, 348 page 273D), William shows up as the "headof the household", 27 years old, but single and as a "farmer". Livingwith him is his brother, 31 year old John (farmer), their widowed mother,68 year old Louisa Zimmerman (keeping house), a 20 year old Iowa bornHerman Rick (other), and a 13 year old Iowa born niece of William's,Alvina Jahnke (works at housework). Everybody else in this household wasborn in Mecklenberg, Swerin (Germany), as was the parents to them all.
Found William married to Rosa in the 1900 census of Lone Tree, Johnsonco., IA. (FHC film #1,240,440 page 39A) , where he a "farmer andmanufacturer". Per this record, William immigrated to the U.S. in either1848 or 1868, has been married to Rosa for 18 years, and they are buyingtheir farm (has mortgage on it). Living with them, at this time, istheir six children (4 sons and 2 daughters) and one step-son ofWilliam's, a 19 year old Henry S. (no other last name is show on thiscensus for Henry but it is marked that he is a "stepson"). William wasborn in Iowa, as was his father, but his mother (Rosa) was born inGermany, per this record.
In 1910, William and Rosa, with five of their children (John was marriedby then and was living close by and Henry was not there), were stillliving in Lone Tree, IA., where William was still farming (see FHC film#1,374,421 page 66B). By this time (April 18, 1910) they owned theirfarm, free of mortage. This record shows his immigration being 1869.
At the Internet source of genealogy.rootsweb.com it shows he and Rosawith another son, Henry Ludoph (b. 1879, d. 1971), who was the oldest oftheir seven children.
In the 1930 census of Davenport, Scott co., IA. (ED #82-49, sht. 23A{page 243}), William shows up as an 80 year old Berlin born (as were bothof his parents) "Vice President of a steel shop", working for wages. Perthis record, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1866 and he was 32 years old atthe time of his first marriage. Note that his son (John E.) was livingnext door, along with some of his family (See notes under John E.Zimmerman). Also see notes under Rosa Nagel.
Rosa Amanda Fredericka Nagel [Parents] was born on 9 Jan 1863 in Schlesswig or Staat Bellen, Holstein, Germany. She died in 1930. She married William Christian Frederick Zimmerman on 15 Nov 1878 in Lone Tree, Johnson co., Ia..
Other marriages:,
Wm. E. Rohr's research for Rosa: Could not find Rosa Nagel in the 1880census of Iowa or Illinois (See note with Wm. C. Zimmerman about hishousehold in the 1880 census. Rosa was not listed as part of it.). Shemay have married by then, which there is a couple of possibilities withinIowa in 1880. The fact that she may be married by 1880 is supported bythe fact that a Rosa Zimmerman showed up as the wife to William C.Zimmerman in the 1900 (FHC film #1,240,440 page 39A) and the 1910 censusof Lone Tree, Johnson co., IA. (see FHC film #1,347,421 page 66). All ofRosa and William's children's names, DOB, and place of births, were takenfrom the 1900 census. There is also a "stepson" to William Zimmermanliving with them in this 1900 census, which would be a son by Rosa'sfirst marriage. This 1900 census also shows that she immigrated to theU.S. in 1870 (this matches with her parents). Her son, Henry, was a"manufacturer", probably helping his stepfather, William, while sonsFritz & John were "farm laborers", and Bertha was a "stenographer" inthis 1900 census. Herman was "at school".
This particular Rosa (in the 1910 census) was 48 years old and Germanborn, which fits right in with the approximate DOB we have on her. Also, this census record has this Rosa listed as being married twice, this oneto Wm. being 28 years, which also allows this Rosa to still be ours. Atthis time, only Fritz, who is single & into "sales work", Bertha (single& unemployed), Herman (single & "learning farm"), and Lilly & William, are still living at home with their parents, who live on Devoe Street inLone Tree. They also have a 35 year old, German born, "hired man", Henry(can't read his last name) living with them now. He is probably helpingWilliam and Rosa work the farm, beings two of their oldest sons are nolonger living at home. Living next door to them in 1910, is a 67 yearold John Zimmerman, who is single and German born, who we believe isWilliam's older brother.
Two pages before the one where Rosa is listed on the 1910 census, thereis a 26 year old German born John E. Zimmerman, who is a son of Wm. &Rosa, married to a 24 year old IA. born Alma, of two years. This Almamay be the "cousin" referred to in a letter to Fanny Rose Nagel. Pleasereview the notes with Fannie Rose Nagel, to see why we think we have thecorrect Zimmermans in this 1910 census (one letter was signed Aunt &Uncle Wm. Zimmerman).
Note that Lone Tree is only about 13 miles west of Nichols, Muscatineco., IA., where Thies Nagel, and his family, lived in 1880.
Also, per conversation Wm. E. Rohr had with Elizabeth G. (Russell) Wells,Fannie Nagel had mentioned to Elizabeth (her daughter) that she (Fannie)had relations that lived in Lone Tree, IA. This further supports theconnection of Rosa to the Zimmerman's.
Wm. E. Rohr found, on genealogy.rootsweb.com, information about Rosa andher husband, Wm. Zimmerman. Prior to this, we had her birth date asJanuary 1862. See note with Wm. Zimmerman about a seventh child.
In the 1930 census (dated April 23, 1930) she and her husband (Wm. C.Zimmerman) were renting their place for $35 a month in Davenport, Scottco., Iowa. Rosa was the person that gave the census taker theinformation then. They lived at 2207 E. 12th. St. then. This censusrecorded Rosa as 67 years old, born in Hamburg, Germany (her father alsoborn in Hamburg, while her mother born in Berlin, per this census), andshe was 19 years old when first married, but that marriage wasn't to Wm.Zimmerman. This census also showed her as immigrating to the U.S. in1869. See further notes under Rosa's husband (Wm. Zimmerman) and theirson, John E.

He was sealed to his parents in the SUBMIT temple. He was endowed in the SUBMIT temple. He married Agnes Peterson.
Found the following line in the Davenport Times, dated January 8, 1901
Davenport, Scott County, Iowa, under the column for Big Rock: "LouisNagel has been in Minnesota looking up grain of the Bushnell mill."Think this is in reference to the Nagel mill in Bushell, Illinois thatbelonged to a couple of his brothers (Henry R. & John D. Nagel). If thisis our Louis, it means he lived in Big Rock, Scott co., IA. in 1901.Could he have been living in the former home of his parents or maybe evenwith his widowed mother then?DEATH: Death info came from same record as his father's. This samerecord also had his middle initial as "C".
DEATH: Wm. E. Rohr also has a copy of Scott co., IA. Death Register withan Agnes (Petersen) Nagel, widow of Louis Nagel, on it. There is a lotof info about her on this record including her parents names. Her DOB onthis record was Sept. 25, 1879 and death date was Dec. 6, 1925 atDavenport, IA. This could be the wife of our Louis. CHECK THE 1900CENSUS TO VERIFY THE ABOVE.
Agnes Peterson [Parents] was born on 25 Sep 1879 in Davenport, Scott co., Ia.. She died on 6 Dec 1925 in Davenport, Scott co., Ia.. She was buried on 9 Dec 1925 in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport, Scott co., Ia.. She married Louis Nagel.

Friedrich Nagel [Parents] was born in Oct 1875 in Illinois. He died in Dec 1966. He married Anna Hesterberg on 28 Apr 1897 in , Kane co., Il..
Have not been able to locate him in 1880. He is not listed with theseparents then. Did locate another Fredric Nagle in Buff, Monroe co., IL.in the 1880 census CD, with his parents. He was 4 years old then. Itcould be that this person we have listed here is not a son of Thies Nagel(compare the 1900 census of Buff, IL.)
Wm. E. Rohr found a copy of a 1900 census of Monroe co., IL. with FredNagel (24 yrs. old, born IL.) and his family on it. Fred was farmingthere, at the time. His mother was also living with them. (See FHC film#1,240,330 page 228B).
He was still at the same location in the 1910 census, and still farming.
Wm. E. Rohr has a copy of a 1920 census of Monroe co., IL. with a FredNagel (44 yrs. old, born IL.) and his family on it. Fred was farmingthere, at the time.
The below info may be on our Fred, also.

Postville, Allamakee Co., Iowa
July 16, 1909OBITUARY.
John Balch MINERT.
At 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, while sitting in his grain elevator, death came almost instantly to John B. MINERT. He and his partner, FredNAGEL, had been whiling away the dull afternoon playing checkers and hadjust finished their fourth game when Mr. MINERT sank back in his chair, drew a few gasping breaths and expired. John B. MINERT was born in Posttownship, this county, fifty-six years ago and has resided here all hislife. He held the office of Sheriff of this county for a number of years.During all his residence here he has been engaged in buying stock andgrain and had a wide acquaintance. He was a generous man with a kindlynature. A sad coincidence lies in the fact that his sister, Mrs. BOLLMAN,whose obituary appears herewith, passed away in precisely the same mannerand Mr. MINERT attended her funeral the day before his death.
Anna Hesterberg was born in Jun 1877 in Il.. She married Friedrich Nagel on 28 Apr 1897 in , Kane co., Il..
Wm. E. Rohr found the below on the 1880 census CD of Monroe co., IL.There was another family of the same name living next door to them(probably a brother to Henry).
