WILL of Ralph Marche, yeoman died 10th January 1598; probate 31 January
1598/9
To the poor of Cranbrook Parish 6.8d
To my wife Jane and my son Edmund Marche, all my household goods and
cattle, equally divided, provided that my wife have possession of all
goods until my son Edmund is 21. Should my son die before 21, then my
wife shall have all the said goods forever.
To my wife Joan, the annuity of £16.13.4d per year out of the lands of
my brother Robert Brickenden during her life. After her decease, the
said annuity shall remain to my said son and his heirs forever. If my
brother Robert Brickenden should pay back the principal sum of the
annuity which is £200, then my executors shall invest this sum to the
same rate of interest as before.....
Should my wife remarry, she shallgive sufficent bond to the overseers of
this will, or if they are dead, to my brother Edmund Brickenden, to
Insure that te £200 and the household stuff shall indeed be paid to my
son when 21.
There are £50 of my money in the hands of my brother Alexander Brickenden
and this money is to be used to pay what is owed George Burden on the
property I purchased of him.

WILL of Robert Brickenden, yeoman died 6th January 1629/30; probate 30th
November 1632.
My body shall be buried under the tombstone where my father and grandfather
were buried.
To Mr Abbot our Minister, 20s.
To my son Robert Brickenden, £13.6.8 for life. Also to him the 20s. Gold piece
within one month of my decease.
To the 4 children of my daughter Fryman, now living in Cranbrook, 20s each, when
each is 21.
To Sara Fryman and Susan Fryman, 2 other daughters of my daughter Fryman, £5
each when 21 or married.
To the 2 children of my daughter Jewis, £10 each in consideration of a legacy
given by my mother to be paid by my brother Alexander Brickenden which was not
paid.
Exec. My eldest son Richard Brickeden, and to him the residue of my moveables.
WILL
To my eldest son Richard Brickden, my mansion house where I now dwell with the
land and buildings thereto. Also to him, all my other lands and tenements.
Wit. Alexander Parcks and Jonas Bottinge, the writer.
In probate; the will is challenged. The party of the first part Richard
Brickenden, son of the testator. The party of the second part, Robert Brickenden
Junior, son of the testator. |
