66. Washington Catterton4 Ancell (Nancy3 Beazley, John2, James1) was born in Virginia November 21, 1803.(335) He died March 1862 in Tiptonville, Obion Co., Tennessee.(336)

Washington married Eliza Whitelaw November 19, 1829 in Cape Girardeau Co., Missouri.(337) Eliza was born about 1814 in Kentucky.(338) Eliza was the daughter of Nicholas Whitelaw and Elizabeth Beazley. She died November 1899.(339)

With the outbreak of war, Washington separated from his wife, Eliza Whitelaw.(340) Family correspondence dated June 12, 1862 states that "... when the troubles commenced in Missouri, [he] took the Negroes to Tiptonville, Tennessee. He died there last March. Eliza did not go with him. She remained at home with her 2 sons."

Washington Catterton Ancell and Eliza Whitelaw had the following children:

child + 210 ii. Mary Jane Ancell was born about 1831.

child 211 iii. Gabrielle or Gabriella Ancell was born about 1833.(341) Gabrielle married John W. Dean January 6, 1850 in Scott Co., Missouri.(342) John was born in 1821 in Kentucky.(343)

Gabrielle was separated from her husband, John W. Dean about 1860.(344) Family correspondence dated June 12, 1862 indicates that "her husband left her 2 years ago."

child 212 iv. Genevieve Ancell was born in Missouri about 1838.(345) She married twice. Genevieve first married a Mr. Burns.(346) Genevieve second married Mate Ryms before June 12, 1862.(347) He died before June 29, 1876.(348)

Genevieve, as Mate Ryms's wife, resided with him in Tiptonville, Obion Co., Tennessee.(349)

child + 213 v. Josephine Ancell was born about 1840.

child + 214 vi. Washington Durrett Ancell was born about 1842.

child + 215 vii. Henry Clay Ancell was born about 1842.
