He came to this Island in the year 1785. One of the most praiseworthy things that can be said of him is that he never tasted a drop of liquor during his lifetime; this, considering the time he came here, is a very rare thing. He was very hearty, and kept up to the last..He leaves a very large number of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren..."5
