Robert Penoyer, father of philanthropist William Pennoyer, was the son of Thomas Butler of Dorston, HEF, a weaver. He left from Bristol, ENG, and changed his name to Penoyer (his mother's maiden name) to avoid being associated with a murder he had witnessed. He came on the Hopewell with his brother Thomas, æ 10y, in 1635.
