Taylor Names

Here is a brief history of my Taylor family.... James and Margaret McCudden had two children, John and Betsy.
Betsy married John Taylor somewhere around 1835-39 and they had four boys, Peter, James, Joseph and Thomas.
Betsy's family was from Ireland but the Taylor boys were born in England. It is believed that they came from
Cumberland. According to legend, either John or Betsy died and the other spouse moved back with the grandparents in Ireland
The remaining spouse was going to remarry a person who wasn't Catholic and the grandparents were very upset.
The McCudden's arranged passage for themselves, their son John and the four Taylor boys aboard a steamer to Canada. During the night,
under the cover of darkness, they whisked the boys away from the unsuspecting parent, hid them in a wagon full of hay,
and silently headed to the harbour to the awaiting boat. They left Ireland in 1866 and landed in Canada. They eventually
settled in North Gwillimbury, York County, Ontario where Taylor descendants still live today.
This chart starts with the original four Taylor boys and continues with their descendants.
