Bourchier

Bourchier Coat Of Arms

From the reign of Edward I to the establishment of the Commonwealth, a period of four centuries, few families equaled and none excelled in wealth or political power than that of the Bourchier family. Intermarrying with the sovereign house of Loraine and with the Plantagenet princesses of England, one or the other of its members, filled every important office and dignity of the state.

Note: Robert was a Member of Parliament for Essex 1329, 1330,1332,and 1329. Appointed Chief Justice of The King's Bench in 1334. ( He does not appear to have accepted the office) He distinguished himself fighting under the Black Prince at the Battle of Crecy in1346. Robert died of the plague in 1349
