5 "Debra Ann Beal and Larry Allen Mewes were married Aug. 12 at the Zion United Methodist Church. The Rev. Hout officiated at the 7:30 ceremony. The reception was at the church.
"Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John Beal, Rt. 1,Olney and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mewes, Rt. 1, Bone Gap.
"The bride is a 1977 graduate of East Richland High School and works at McDonald's in Olney. Mewes was graduated from Edwards County High School in 1974, Olney Central College in 1976, attended Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, and works at Lindsay Motor Co., Mt. Carmel.
"Attending the couple were Peggy Ochs, Calhoun and Ted Kelsey, Bone Gap. Ushers were Phillip Beal, Mt. Carmel, brother of the bride, and Doug Kelsey, Albion, cousin of the bridegroom.
"The bride wore a white organza gown with an empire sihouette, bishop sleeves, high neckline and pinefore effect. Accents were Cluny lace. She carried out the traditional "something old and new" theme, and her jewelry was a diamond pendant, a gift from the bridegroom.
"Following a wedding trip to Nashville, Tenn., the Mewes live on Rt. 3, Albion."
5 "Larry Mewes, 41, of Albion, died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, at the home of a friend in rural Albion. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion with Bro. Larry Music officiating. Burial will be in Little Prairie Cemetery, west of Albion. Visitiation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Albion Public Library or Albion Sportmens Club.
"Mewes was born Feb. 20, 1956, in Richland County, the son of Kenneth and June (Gray) Mewes. He married Terry Mann May 24, 1985, in Little Prairie Christian Church.
"He was an auto technician at Patriot Motors in Mt. Carmel. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Sportsmans Club of Albion and Little Prairie Christian Church.
:He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Ashely Mewes, of Albion, and Audrey Mewes of Dundas; his parents, of Bone Gap; his maternal grandmother, Mildred Gray, of Bone Gap; two brothers, Chris Mewes, of Browns, and Brian Mewes and his wife, Jamie, of Albion; and one sister, Susan Cox and her husband, Randy, of Bloomington."
6 "Larry Allen Mewes was born in Olney, Illinois, on February 20, 1956, the first child of Kenneth and June Gray Mewes. On May 24, 1985, he married Teresa Mann and they had one daughter, Ashley Rochelle, who was born September 6, 1987. He also has a daughter, Audrey Lea, who was born October 11, 1979. Larry departed this life on December 31, 1997, at the age of 41 years, 10 months and 11 days.
"Larry was a devoted family man who enjoyed providing for and spending time with his family. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his daughters and saw they were involved in school, church, sports, music, 4-H, and other activities.
"By profession, Larry was an auto technician at Patriot Motors in Mt. Carmel, receiving several awards for his work. He was a member of Little Prairie Christian Church where he taught Sunday School. He was also a member of the Edwards County Sportsman Club.
"Larry enjoyed joking around with and working with children, and was a softball coach and a 4-H leader. He also worked with a gun safety program for youth through the Sportsmans Club.
"Larry enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting, and took pride in his captures and that his daughter Ashely accompanied him the past two years. He was also an avid reader and read many books at the Albion Public Library.
"Larry was talented in many areas. He was a skilled wood worker and crafted several items for their home and as gifts. He was a handy man who enjoyed working on home improvement projects. He also enjoyed gardening, yardwork, chopping wood, and took special pride in their prize winning goats.
"Larry Allen Mewes is survived by his wife, Terry Mewes; two daughters, Ashley Rochelle Mewes and Audrey Mewes; his parents Kenneth and June Mewes; a sister,Susan Cox; two brothers, Chris and Brian Larry Mewes; and his maternal grandmother, Mildred Gray.
"Larry was a special person who will be sadly missed by his family and friends."
