The Great Migration Standard

The following are excerpts from the writings of 4 noteworthy genealogical researchers, Henry Bond, Charles Pope, James Savage and Mary Isabella Gozzaldi . I have color coded each author and the sections of their Daniels/Daniell sections that relate to Robert Daniell (Daniels). There are additional mentions of Robert's spouse, son, daughter and son-in-law that are not necessarily color coded.

Bond - Pope - Savage - Gozzaldi

ROBERT DANIELL, Watertown, rem. 1651 to Cambridge
Ab. 1638, purchased house and land of Thomas Blodgett, W. side of Garden street (Cambridge)
First three agree that Robert Daniell was in Watertown

Bond has Robert living in Watertown his entire life
Pope has Robert leaving Watertown for Cambridge in 1636
Savage has Robert leaving for Cambridge in 1651
Gozzaldi has Robert in Cambridge and mentions his selling his home with no futher detail being revealed.

frm. March 14, 1638-9.
adm. Freeman May 2, 1638-39
freem. 14 Mar. 1639

Note: Freeman, March 14 1638 (p. 375, Records of the Governor and Company of the Massachusetts Bay in New England (1853, AMS Press)
Pope and Savage agree Robert Daniell became a freeman, on March 14, 1638-39
Bond reports Robert Daniell a freeman on May 2nd of that same year. An simple error in reading the records
All 3 Agree

Birth of Daughter Mary Ch. Mary b. 2 (7) 1642, Mary, the last of wh. was b. 2 Sept.
Pope and Savage both report the birth of Mary in 1642
Note that Pope recognized the birth of Mary as a child of Robert and Elizabeth here and later says she is the child of Reana Andrews.
Bond does not mention this birth or any other of Roberts children

Wife Elizabeth
Wife Elizabeth d. Oct. 2. 1643;
his w. Elizabeth d. 2 Oct. 1643
m. (1) Elizabeth _______, who d. 2 Oct. 1653
Pope and Savage both report the death of wife Elizabeth in 1643.

Note that Savage did not address the fact that she died in Cambridge as records show.
Gozzaldi reported Elizabethís death, however, my copy shows the correct day month and is listed 10 years later than Pope and Savage.

Son Thomas
Thomas bur. 6 (9) 1644.
Only Pope reports the death of son Thomas in 1644.

Sale of Cambridge Home
sold to Nicholas Wyeth, 1645
Only Gozzaldi reported the sale of his Cambridge house in 1645

Sale of Watertown Land
Oct. 7, 1651, he, then of Wat., sold to Edward Garfield, six acres of land in the hither plain
Dec. 22, 1651, he sold to John Whitney, tailor, six acres in the hither plain.
May 18, 1652, he sold his meadow, in Wat., to David Fiske, of Camb.
Only Bond reports on these Watertown related events
Deposed 26 (4) 1652, ae. 60 years and upwards. [Mdx Files.]
Only Pope reports this event

Excused from Military Drills
Ap., 1655; he was, by the Court, excused from trainings.
Only Bond reports on this Watertown related event
Robert's Death and Will
He d. July 6, 1655, Will, dated 3 July, prob. Oct. 2, 1655. Wife Reana to have the est. he rec'd with her and additional. 5 children; eldest dau. Elizabeth now wife of Thomas Fanning; sons Samuel and Joseph, daus. Sarah and Mary; cousin Anna Newcomen. [Reg XXX, 459]
he d. at C. 6 .July 1655, His will of three days bef. names w. of uncertain letters, like Reana Andrews, wh. he m. only 2 May of the yr. 1654, and five ch ., Elizabeth w. of Thomas Fanning; Samuel; and minors Joseph, Sarah, and Mary, the last of wh. was b. 2 Sept d. 6 July 1655,
Pope, Savage & Gozzaldi report the death of Robert Daniell and agree on the same date. Some have misinterpreted, this entry to mean that Robert had been childless prior to the marriage of him to Reana, e.g. Michael Mc Giffertís book, Godís Plot, Puritan Spirituality in Thomas Shepardís Cambridge.

This analysis makes it clear that both Pope Savage knew through earlier reports that the 5 children mentioned in the will were from Robertís marriage to Elizabeth. Gozzaldi reports on 4 of the 5 living children at the time of Robertís death.

Reana's Remarriage
The widow m. Edmund Frost His wid. m. Edmund Frost, as his third w wid. Reana, m. (3) Elder Edmund Frost, bef. 1669
Pope, Savage, and Gozzaldi report the remarriage of Reana to Edmund Frost
Exception
His Will, dated Sud., Jan. 16, 1661-2; John Wincoll, legatee, and Wm. Bond, wit. and overseer
Bond is reporting the death of another Robert Daniell
