James H. Baker, who for more than four years has been confined to his bed, passed peacefully away Feb. 25, at the age of 77 years. During his long sickness he was watched over and cared for as patiently and tenderly by his good wife as a loving mother would care for an ailing child, and in this loving care the good wife was assisted by the two oldest children, Flora and Frank, who were the home-stayers. Mr. Baker was a good man in his home and his family dearly loved him. He was an excellent neighbor, always ready to do a kindness. He was a great lover of flowers and of all things beautiful. In 1863 Mr. Baker was married to Miss Emerly P. Kimball, and there were born into their home six children, Flora, Frank, Ada, Arthur, Leon and Henry. Ada married John Leonard and lives in the immediate neighborhood. Arthur is married and lives in Ellsworth, Wis. Leon lives in Glens Falls, N.Y. Henry, the youngest, is also living at home at present and has done his part faithfully. There are six grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. E. A. read, the Universalist pastor of Bethel.
