Mrs. Mary Emeline Morton, 76 years old, died of tuberculosis
at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of her son, J.S.
Morton, 410 East Sixth street. She had been seriously sick three
weeks.
Mrs. Morton was born May 29, 1841, in Illinois. For many years
she lived at Diamond. Five years ago she came to Carthage to make
her home with her son. Her husband has been dead several years.
The following children survive: L.C. Morton and Miss Lulu Morton,
of this city; Mrs. Nannie Cannon, of Ellsburg, Ind., Mrs. Hattie
Hamilton, Beaumont, Texas; Mrs. Lillie Short, Granby; Mrs. Nancy
Hill, Chicago, and Mrs Laura Nall, Belle River, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the Knell chapel. Rev. F. Y. Campbell, pastor of the Baptist church, will have charge of the services. Burial will be at Diamond.
