28 or 29 November 1902 enlisted into the Leicestershire Regiment,
service number 412
…. I believe he was a year under age when he enlisted
28 Jan 1904 Promoted to Corporal
29 Nov 1904 Good Conduct Badge
08 May 1905 Transferred to Royal Army Medical Corps,
                reverted to Private.
20 Jul 1906 Promoted again to Corporal

In August 1914, living in Australia, called up as a Reservist, and
helped train soldiers for the A I F. He wrote to War Dept in England
and got permission to rejoin his old unit. He left Australia 07 Jun
1915 on SS Geelong, arriving 29 Jun at Port Suez where he spent seven
weeks ! He continued to England on SS Ciramic. Posted to …… 09 Aug
1915. He was demobbed 10 Jun 1919, living in Woking 15 Jun 1920,
and in June 1923 was living Railway Crescent, Welshpool ??, W A

He married 16 Jan 1915 at Perth W A to Lucy Florence Watkins,
she of 9 Barister St Blackpool. He died c1956, and Lucy F died
in 1992, 2 months before her 102nd birthday.

Their children were :

THOMAS JAMES SAMUEL(7547)born 03 Nov 1915 at Freemantle. He was
in Militia, then joined Regular Army before WW2. He was captured
in Timor and a POW at Changi, on the Burma Railway, and Kyushu.
He saw the Nagasaki A bomb explosion.Married 1947 to Peggy Herman (Hermanson?).

        Toni Margharita born Papua N G ......1954. Married to
                Robert Pooley, they have 2 children.

LLOYD (7548) born c1920. RAAF in WW2. Married (1)to......., they
had one child, daughter Elaine, who is living Adelaide. Lloyd
divorced late 1940s, and married (2) to Evelyn Godley in Melbourne.
No children, and she died 1993. Lloyd remarried (1998?)to Cecelia.
