Floral festival brings burst of colour to town and river

BAGENALSTOWN, a town of real natural beauty whose major appeal is centred on the River Barrow, will put its best foot forward on Sunday next (August 18) when it stages its first Floral Festival - an event with a definite bias to river-based locations.

Sunday's festivities will commence at 10 am and the official opening is time for 2 pm at the local courthouse when Ms. Clair Dunne, Cathaoirleach of Bagenalstown Town Council will unfurl a flag incorporating the town's Coat of Arms. This lovely work of art was stitched by members of the local ICA guild, namely Ellie Casey, Mary Collier, Margaret O'Neill, Frances Agar, Evelyn Jenkinson and Peggy Cummins.
