Leonard Brown Cummings(August 4,1873 to November 3,1963) Company G,2nd regiment, South Carolina Voluteers Infantry, was organized at Newberry,South Carolina and mustered into service at Camp Lee, Columbia,SC on August 19th, 1898 by Captain Ezra B Fuller, 7th United States Cavalry.

They were moved by rail to Jacksonville,Fla. September 15th,1898 and assigned to duty witth the 7th Army Corps.

They were moved by rail to Camp Orward,Savannah, Georgia on October 21,1898 and from thence by water to Havannah,Cuba on U S Transport Roumanian, January 3rd,1899.

They left Havannah, Cuba for the US March 2,1899 and were encamped at Camp McKenzie, Augusta,Ga. untill April 19,1899. This is when the Company was mustered out of service by Lieutenant Elwood W. Evans, 8th US Cavalry, Mustering Officer.

Muster Roll of Captain Silas J McLaughrin of the second regiment of SC Volunteers. Commanded by Colonel Willie J Jones.Called into service of US by the President's proclamation order. May 25th,1898 From acts of enlistment for term of two years unless sooner discharged.

Deducted on December pay roll--sick in quarters from October 10th to 11th, inclusive from January 1st to 13th, inclusive from January 15th to 20th,inclusive from January 21st to 22nd, inclusive from March 11th to 12th. all in the line of duty.Enrolled and mustered as a Private--appointed to Corporal September 1st,1898 for Summery, December 2nd for Vio.
