3. RICHARD J3 ANDERSON (MILES2, JOHN1) was born Abt. 1785 in Walnut Creek, NC, and died 1862 in Timmonsville,Sumter,SC,USA. He married ABBYLONA HAM, daughter of BRILEY HAM and ABBYLONA MORRIS. She was born 1788 in Darlington County,SC, and died 1844 in Darlington County,SC.

Notes for RICHARD J ANDERSON:

He was willed 200 acres of land in NC by his father Miles Anderson,Sr. Richard, his brother Miles,Jr and cousin Briley Anderson, came to Darlington County about 1818-1819. They settled in the Lake Swamp/Sparrow Swamp, Peniel Community. He owned a lot of land. He gave 200 acres to his daughter and her husband, Louisa Abegail Anderson and George Washington McLeod and their heirs for love and good will.

This deed was recorded in Darlington Deed Book Q, page 53. This 200 acres of land was part of a 427 acre tract of land granted to William Cook, July 18,1794. The land was located on each side of a branch called Horse Branch and meandering around to another branch called Little Prong Branch. In 1983 those branches are called Lake Swamp and Sparrow Swamp. Louisa and George's property was bound by property owned by Richard J Anderson and William Lawhon. The deed was made April 11,1848, the 72nd year of American Independance, by Richard J Anderson, witnessed by Stephen H Anderson and Emily A Anderson. Emily later married Robert William Lawhon. The deed was recorded by J D Sansbury,magistrate, Darlington District, April 18, 1848. Recorded and examined by E B Brown, RMC In 1884 they sold 47 acres to thier son Albert McLeod at $7 an acre. Darlington County Deed Book W-2, p.57.On June 24,1854, Richard was appointed to a three man committee to visit Elim Baptist Church members. His brother, Miles Anderson, Jr, was also a member of the Elim Baptist church. A member sick or absent for three weeks was visited to determine if they needed help or were absent with due cause. He was a planter in the Sparrow Swamp Community, Darlington County, known today as Sparrow Swamp Community, Timmonsville, Florence County,SC

4. MILES3 ANDERSON, JR (MILES2, JOHN1) was born 1800 in Walnut Creek, NC, and died 1872 in Darlington County,SC. He married ALLIE LANGSTON 1823, daughter of REDDICK LANGSTON and PRISCILLA THORNHILL. She was born 1809, and died 1868 in Darlington County,SC.

Notes for MILES ANDERSON, JR:

He was willed 200 acres in Walnut Creek, NC, by his father. In 1818 or 1819 he came to Darlington County with his brother Richard J Anderson, and his cousin, Briley Anderson. He settled in the Lake Swamp/Sparrow Swamp/Peniel Community, now known as Sparrow Swamp Community, Timmonsville,SC, Florence County. Miles lived with John Chandler and his wife, ___Kirby Chandler, sister of Samuel Kirby. The John Chandlers lived next door to Reddick Langston and his wife, Priscilla Thornhill Langston. Both Miles, Jr and his wife Allie are buried in the Anderson-Langston Cemetery, Sparrow Swamp Community. In Darlington County Will Book, Vol.1,p.153,Apt. A, Pkg.992, Reddick Langston refers to his wife, Priscilla, his sons Howard Langston,Wade Langston, son in law Miles Anderson, daughter Elizabeth Eleanor Boseman, grandson John Henry Purvis. He also refers to his land as 400 acres on the south side of Lake Swamp. His will was witnessed by Elias Windham,L Morris, E C Kirby. His Christening was in Effingham,SC .

She married GEORGE WASHINGTON MCLEOD May 20, 1845 in Elm Baptist Church, Darlington County,SC, son of NORMAN MACLEOD and ELIZABETH CADE. He was born December 13, 1820 in Elim Community,Effingham,Willaimsburg Cty,SC,USA, and died September 25, 1895 in Timmonsville,Sumter,SC,USA.

Notes for LOUISA ABEGAIL ANDERSON:

She is buried in the McLeod Cemetery along with several other family members. Her grave marker indicates that she died in 1891. The cemetery is located across the road from their home on the property her father, Richard Anderson, gave her and her husband and heirs. This is known as Center road, Timmonsville,SC . He parents home and her home after marriage were weithin two miles.

Christening at Elam Baptist Church, Effingham,SC. Case on missing church-- excuse accepted and aquitted on 7/26/1856. 1884 sold 47acres to son Albert for $329. George died 9/25/1895 and is buried in McLeod Family Cemetery accross from homestead.SChwy 106, Center road, Timmonsville,SC According to Elim Baptist Church records 1827- 1927, George,his brothers and sisters , and Louisa Anderson's father,grandfather and uncles were all members of this church, along with other family members. Their homesite was located by a recorded deed in Darlington Deed Book Q,p. 53. For love and good will Richard J Anderson gave two hundred acres of land to his daughter, Louisa A Anderson and her husband, George W. McLeod and her children. It was part of four hundred ninety-seven acre tract of land granted to William Cook dated July 18, 1794. The land was located on each side of Horse Branch. In 1983 the branches are called Lake and Sparrow Swamp.There property was bound by property owned by Richard J Anderson and Willaim Lawhon. The deed was made April 11, 1848, the 72nd year of American Indepenence, by Richard J Anderson , witnessed by Stephen H Anderson and Emily A Anderson. The deed was recorded by J D Sansbury, Magistrate, Darlington District,April 18,1848. The property referred to in the abover deed is known as Center Road, Timmonsville,SC, Hwy 106 today. H ewas identified as a planter in the Darlington County,1st district, US Census 1850 and 1860, along with his family members. Microcopy #267,reel #322 reveals that George during the confederate war as Seargant, Co. C , 21st SC Infantry, Card # 49652623, from January 1, 1862 to January 1,1863. He reported for duty December 28, 1861 at Georgetown,SC as reported by Capt. J W Owens. He was sick and absent July and August 1862, He was discharged January,1 1863, at expiration of his 12 months term of service at Gerogertown,SC by Capt. Owens. In 1884, George sold more or less forty-seven acres for three hundred and twenty-nine dollars to his son, Albert Burns McLeod. The property Albert bought was bound by his father's land and on one side by Melinia Kirby's property. This deed was recorded in Darlington County Deed Book W--2,p. 57

His epitaph on his toumbstone reads as follows;
