Jane FLEMING was the only child 1 of Thomas FLEMING; (b. c. 1779 2 ) and Hannah BENNETT FLEMING; (b. 9 Sep 1794, in NJ 2 ). Jane was born on 25 Nov 1815 in Ridley Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. 2
In 1820, the FLEMING household in Ridley Township
consisted of one male in the 26-45 age range, one female in the 16-26 age range, and one female in the under 10 age range. This is consistent with the birth dates of Thomas, Hannah, and Jane, respectively. 3
In 1830, the FLEMING household in Nether Providence
Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania shows an additional male in the 30-40 age range. 4
Thomas FLEMING died 3 July 1833 at age 54. 2 He was buried in the Middletown Presbyterian Church cemetery, Elwyn, Delaware County, on 5 Jul 1833. The burial records state
he was from Ridley. 10 His estate was advertised in July, 1834 with Hannah as Executrix and Moses CULVERT(sic) as Administrator. 11
In 1842, Hannah purchased a property in Chester Township,
Delaware County, from John and Mary SLAWTER. The SLAWTERs had purchased it from the SQUIBB heirs in 1811. 5 This property was given or sold to Moses and Jane CULBERT by 1848, when title is shown in Moses' name 6, and it became the CULBERT family farm.
In 1850, Hannah was living with the CULBERT family on their farm. 7
In 1860, Hannah was living alone in Chester Township, Delaware County. 8
In 1870, the Hannah FLEMMING household included daughter Jane CULBERT, and grandchildren Hannah, Robert, and Harry CULBERT. 9
Hannah died 17 Mar 1875 at age 80. 2 She was buried in Middletown Presbyterian Church cemetery next to her husband. 10
| Other Family Information |
Thomas FLEMING had a brother, Robert, who died 1 Feb 1852. Robert may also may have married someone named Jane, who died 10 Nov 1851. A book owned by Hannah BENNETT FLEMING indicated there was a grandpa and grandma WORRALL in the family. 2
I found a Jane WORRALL, who was born c. 1776 and died 12 Jan 1863 at age 86. She was buried in the Middletown Presbyterian Church cemetery. She is not found on the 1937 cemetery list. 10
