This site reflects the genealogy of a small recluse part of the Goodwin Surname. Marcus Goodwin comes out of the hills of Northern Arkansas in the mid-1870s. He marries a Halpain girl known by several names such as Parlena, Parahetta, Pauline Marietta, Maretta and Mary Ann. Earlier records of Marcus Goodwin have not been found, such as his parents and siblings. He died before 1900 after having 8 children. This genealogy follows these children and the families they made up to the present, or at least the 1930s, giving consideration for the privacy of living individuals. However it is these living individuals that might have some history of Marcus Goodwin and information that can't be found in public records or on the internet. Marcus and Maretta had three sons, Elbert Samuel Goodwin, William Fred Goodwin and Fletcher Calloway Goodwin. There are decendents of only two of these, Elbert and Fletcher. William married Sarah Vandiver but divorced after a year and never had any children.
Elbert married Sarah Josephine Ivie and had 8 children of which three died as infants and children. Elbert and Sarah had three sons, Arlie Franklin, Elbert Samuel, who went by Samuel and Charles Reed. Arlie and Samuel had no children and the only Goodwin decendents from Elbert and Sarah are from Charles Reed who married Bettye Maelyn Brooks. Charles and Bettye had one son and two daughters of whom I am the only Goodwin decendent. My first marriage with Sherry Lynn Matthews produced two girls. My second marriage with Robin Ann Preston produced two sons, Preston Reed and Kirby Allen. The Goodwin name is dependent upon them to be carried on.
The second line of the Goodwin Surname comes from the decendents of Fletcher Calloway Goodwin. Fletcher went by his second name shortened to Cal. Cal married Minnie G Helms and had 4 sons and a daughter. The four sons were Carl F Goodwin, Elbert R Goodwin, Lawrence H Goodwin and Edgar Goodwin. This line of Goodwins is currently being researched. Cal married secondly Daisy M McCallister. From this union is decended one more son, Ewell Goodwin who married Joyce Wilson. Ewell and Joyce had two sons, Paul and Dale who will carry on the Goodwin name from that line.
This site reflects the genealogy of my mother's line of Brooks. I have proofed the connections up to John Marion Brooks who married Nannie Bird Allison. John's parents, Julian and Arrebella have not been proved at present and there are many Brooks Cousins still being researched.

His son, John Ivie married Elizabeth E P Wells. This site includes the genealogy of their sons, Robert C, Reuben Jackson and John F Ivie. Some information is available for Robert and John F but the majority of information is on Reuben Jackson who married Elizabeth Clark Owens. From this union were 12 children of whom we will follow the decendents of Franklin Napolean Ivie who married Matilda Sessions Tompkins and who are my great grandparents.
