Anderson McFall Journal, 1898 through 1914

Anderson McFall, a resident of Phillipsburg in the Union Township, documented daily events in his journal.  These journal entries were transcribed by Martha Bernie in the year 2000 for the Laclede mailing list.  McFall's journal begins in 1898 and ends in 1914.

Martha researched Anderson's life and found that he served as a judge in Laclede County and was a school teacher in early years.  He was nearly 77 when he died and he did, in fact, live into l9l5, passing away on Feb. 8, 1915.  He was confined to bed for more than the last year of his life, so the bad writing may have been in part due to the confinement, most likely to whatever illness he had.

Anderson McFall documented in his journal many different types of his and local residents daily activates as follows:

bullet

Births

bullet

Deaths

bullet

Divorces

bullet

Marriages

bullet

Land sales and purchases

at the Ripe Old Age of

Seventy-Seven

Anderson McFall, an old and respected citizen died at Phillipsburg, on Monday of this wee and funeral services were held Tuesday at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Russell, the pastor, assisted by the pastors of the Methodist, and Baptist churches, after which the Masonic order took charge of the body and laid it to rest in the Philipsburg cemetery.  The deceased was a member of the Conway Masonic Lodge.  About 20 of the Masons of Conway attended the funeral.  He was in his seventy-seventh year and leaves a widow and several grown children.  He had been confined to his bed for more then a year prior to his death.
