Eli Massie & wife Sold their residence & Property on east side R.R. To Rebecca McMenus consideration $800.00 April l4th l904  (NOTE TO FAMILY:  I at first thought this was a family transaction, but had to think hard about the connection.  Rebecca's daughter, Inez, married Eli Shank, whose mother was Lydia Margaret Massie Shank, the daughter of Eli and Mary Jane Mills Massie.  Then of course, Rebecca's son (they actually called her Aunt Frank, her name was Rebecca Frances) William Grant McMenus, married Minnie Brasier, whose mother was Charlotte Jane Massie Brasier Pierce, a sister of Lydia Margaret, and Charlotte Jane's parents were also Eli and Mary Jane Mills Massie.  So, after all this, it does appear to be in the family--through marriage.  You will note there are other sales of Massie property to McMenus in-laws in earlier entries and more to follow.)
