About the Gasconade TownshipThe Gasconade Township is located in 32N - 34N Range 12 - 13 West in Laclede County. This township is on the borders the Franklin and Osage Townships of Laclede County and the Counties of Wright, Texas and Pulaski. The main communities are as follows:

The 1889 Laclede History reflects the following: Competition or Newburg on the Gasconade River, twenty-two miles southeast of Lebanon, has a general store kept by Mr. Wolf, and a drug store kept by Dr. Wright; a school-house and Masonic hall; a saw and gristmill by William Bowman, and a blacksmith shop. Newburg Lodge, A. F. & A. M., was organized early in the seventies, and still continues to meet. |

50 years ago today - Nov. 7, 1951 at Nebo This photo of the record 16-inch snowfall was taken 50 years ago today, on Nov. 7, 1951, at Nebo in the eastern Laclede County. Some parts of the county received up to 19 inches. This photo was taken and submitted by Robert Fisher of Lynchburg, who lived in the upstairs of the old Nebo Store at that time. Shown in the photo are the old Nebo store building, the cabinet shop and garage. |
