GREENWOOD CEMETERY

CADDO PARISH, SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA

130 Stoner Ave. (between Market and Cornwell)

Easily accessible from I-20.  It is near the downtown area of Shreveport.  From east or west on I-20, take the Spring St./Market St  exit and go south on Market St. As soon as you get off I-20 the road branches to the right and left. Market St. goes to  the right and Youree Drive branches off the left.  If you stay on Market it will take you to the corner of Market and Stoner which is one corner of the cemetery and near one of the front entrances.  There are two entrances to the cemetery off Stoner.  If you accidentally find yourself going south on Youree just turn right when to you get to Stoner and it is about 3 short blocks down. In fact, you can see the cemetery on the right as you drive down Youree.

This is an ongoing project and is by no means a complete listing.       I have taken most of the transcriptions from the tombstones directly and in a few cases where the stones are too old to be read  (or chipped, partially buried, tipped over, etc.)  I found some information at the library.  If you know of errors in this transcription, please let me know and I will correct them for you.    I have pictures for most of the stones listed below in black type.   If there is a picture you would like sooner you can email me and I will put it up sooner and/or email you a copy. I tend to go in alphabetical order and start over again at the A's when I add more tombstones.   If you have names and/or photographs to add here I would be happy to add them.  I have listed veterans that I am aware of in red.   Good luck with your research.

My thanks to Eric J. Brock and Linda H. Trichel for their generous contributions to this website.
