Picture taken of their home in 1954 where Walter and Florance raised their family.

Walter Cromarty breaking the prairie sod on SW 23-40-3 in about 1925
He very much enjoyed running the 16-30 Oil Pool Rumbly tractor.
This Rumbly tractor had three carburetors, gasoline one for starting,
distillate one after engine was warmed up and a carburetor for water.
The water carburetor put vaporized water into the combustion chamber
which greatly increased the power of the engine when under load.
The amount of water the engine required was manually controlled by the
engineer who adjusted a small valve according to the sound of the engine.
This is why Walter Cromarty who became quite experienced adjusting the
valve had to stay near the tractor as the load varied.
Walter was the engineer and his brother, Bill, was the separator man.
This was during the 1920s and 1930s
